  1. Heading to the butcher to pick up the bear I shot on opening day along with a small doe my nephew shot. Then to the Taxidermist to get the head mounted and a gun rack with the paws. Could spend a small fortune on this stuff, so this will run about $600. Och, but you dont get a bear very often. So he will have a place of honor on my wall forever.
  2. Saw two together they were a 1/3 the size of that one. Congrats
  3. Live from my couch, have some family responsibilities till Sunday. Should be back in the woods Sunday afternoon thru Wednesday. Rooting for all you guys," get her done"
  4. Nice buck, your area must be like mine bucks with no brow tines.
  5. Envy you guys with all those doe permits. In my area Its luck if you draw one. And if you do you will not get one next year. So I gather if there so many DMP there are plenty of chances to get a doe.
  6. I guess you missed the intention of the question. Just wanted to see if the NY Outdoor News survey was correct. Anyone can shoot a doe anytime they want as long as they have a DMP. Just wanted to see when in the season most people filled their DMP. This has nothing to do with antlers.
  7. Guys/Gals, I read in the NY Outdoor News that 62% of respondents would shoot a doe on opening day. I have been hunting for a long time and was surprised at the numbers who would take a doe on opening day. I have no problems with filling the DMP but I usually do it later in the season if I have one. My question how many of you would or would not take a doe on opening day ? And what is your reasoning. I know some only people only have a limited time to hunt and have to get there deer while they can. But what about you hunters who hunt hunt through out the season. Who know they will get more chances to to see deer.
  8. My wife just down loader this photo. Because i am a putz when it comes to this stuff.
  9. Still up state will post pictures when my wife down loads them to my computer. Leaving here tomorrow.
  10. Hunted all day getting ready to pack it in. Lowered my pack and there it was a bear 75 yards out and moving broad side. Took one shot the bear headed toward me and droped in its tracks. Made a groaning noise and that was it. So it pays to be prepared right to the end of the day.
  11. Why didn't I see that first? Looks like that one will fit the bill. Thanks
  12. De knocking the bow is one of the drawbacks of the crossbow. But it's a minor inconvenience.
  13. That doesn't work for me, I use a quad to get in and out of the woods. So I have to de knock my bow before I get on my quad.
  14. Have any of you guys experienced this. Shot the de knocking arrow and it dissappeared into the ground. Came back the next day with a pick ax and recovered my arrow. Any suggestions??
  15. Saw 2 last Saturday, both small. One was alittle bigger than the other.
  16. Where is gun hunting open for deer this time of year?
  17. I also have a regular bow tag either or buck or doe.
