Plus the fact there aren't enough inspectors to inspect or know what to look for. Not to mention that the Gas companies run the industry in Pa. Funny 8 years later they are looking to do some regulations and maby an environmental and health impact study.

At this point it doesn't matter. The health of the people who would have been exposed are the big winners along with the environment. The decision IMHO was the right one.

Glad the decision was made and support the conclusion. Now maybe the communities can heal the rift between pro and con. I think that some people forget that many anti frackers were also land owners who walked away from the Oil and Gas money. While the pro frackers chased after it. IMHO i think it was banned because during the moritorium we were able to gather information from those states who were fracking. They helped make the case against fracking.

My neighbor has land in Hancock township and he signed a lease in 2008 and got $100,000 it was a 5 year lease. I guess nothing happens now unless there is some stipulation in the lease agreement, if they can't drill for some reason they must pay it back.

How fracking got stopped in NY

In Nassau County on Long Island to renew your pistol permit it costs $200 for 5 years. What a rip off.

It might not be a bad idea to do everything possible, in an environmentally safe way, to hasten the conversion from coal and oil to NG. With all the current push on reducing carbon emissions and such, throwing up road blocks against a cleaner burning fuel seems outright silly to me, or may indicate some political corruption fueled by the big oil companies. What makes you think that NG has lower carbon emissions than coal and Oil. When it is being burned it does but thats not the problem. NG is cleaner burning than the oil and coal. But coal and oil do not emit co unless they are burned. NG on the other hand is just the opposite, the co emitted in the transportation and delivery process from leaking wellheads and pipelines that deliver the gas all over the country. Most large cities have leak management systems to fix these leaks but its a losing battle expecially with a LP cast iron system. They did an infared ariel view of manhattan to show methane leakage and the whole Island lit up red from leaking gas lines. This is the same all over the counrty where NG is being used for cooking, heating and industrial usage factories and resteraunts. "Transporting coal and oil emit no CO2" NG does!!! A Fact conveniently omitted by the Pro Fracking people and the oil and gas industry.

That is extremely wishful thinking. Oil prices have fallen in the past and have rebounded and they will again. All these estimates of how much NG is available are just willd Ass guesstimates. Of their estimates only about 25% is really recoverable.

are they native Dakota residents ? Or transient gas well and pipeline workers who follow the work?

Do you believe it now? I think comparing Ford to Fracking is a stretch. In Fords day there were no regulations and the environment is still suffering from its effects.

I think I remember them logging in Bear Spring Mountain a few years back. I was surprised by it. Pennsylvania has fracked on state land and forest ,if the price was right I think they would have done it in NY if it wasnt banned. I also think In the Adirondacks they have a forever wild designation don't know if the rest of the state has tha designation. But I could be wrong.

Please show me where I said that. Of course Fracking has brought in more production lowering the cost of gas and oil. Also lowering profits for the Gas and Oil industry making it harder for the smaller companies to pay off bebt and survive. I never said it did not lower the price for gas.

When I am up state i often get the Pa. stations on my radio, doing public service information. "Please don't shoot the above ground gas lines." Glad we don't have to wory about that now.

OPEC has the resources to out last low oil prices . Thats why they did not cut their production to bring the price of oil up. All their oil investments have been paid for 30 years ago. They have very little or no debt, just profit. But Frackers have extreme amounts of debt. and the low price for gas and oil will bankrupt them. OPEC will be the last man standing and up comes the gas price again. They are smarter than you think.

You don't know that the world is being polluted everyday. The air we breathe and the water we drink is tainted with chemicals. But thats ok because it makes your life better? I think this argument will not pass the smell test.

I agree we have devistated our environment in just 200 years. and the planet is billions of years old. How could we do so much damage in so little time. We can't even eat fish from our rivers and streams with out fear of getting sick. All for the sake of big business and money, and we get to clean up their mess.

Some people were low balled in their leases. Their land was contaminated with leaking backwash from fracking fluid. Royalty payments drastically declined with no warning and very little explanation. Etc.

I think we both have our opinions about fracking. But as of now they don't matter anymore the Gov. has banned it. IMHO for good reasons. I have family in Pa. and it has always been an energy friendly state whether its coal, oil or Nat gas. But now they want to put restrictions on the gas companies , some places also want to ban fracking. Some people are sorry they ever leased their property.

you make exaggerated comment about econuts making false statements. please elaborate about this comment. did they exaggerate about gas companies screwing landowners out of royalties? did they exaggerte about gas companies not revealing chemicals in their fracking. or screwing landowners on lease fees or their co2 emission or the lie about energy independence ,freeing us of foreign oil and gas And selling our gas over seas for a profit. i live up state and have a sign on my garage and know probably more than you.

All I have to say is remember Love Canal, and how cigaretts wouldnt cause cancer. Also asbestos was a wonder material. Look what happened when we believed them. Lets not let history repeat itself, its better to err on the side of safety for people and the environment.

I think you are correct we are being robber paying these high taxes in NY. I live on Long Island and have a place up state and the taxes are killing me. We never own any land we just rent it from the gov't. I often wonder how states with lower taxes have so much more than we do. I do have family in Florida but its to dam hot for me. Just to get to my house I have to pay 3 bridge tolls, plus drive 162 miles each way . I am retired now and looking to relocate to a tax friendly state.
