My Quebec trip was a blast! Unfortunately I didn’t bag a moose but I shot a bunch of grouse over my dog. I can foresee making this trip every other year.- 24 replies

Snort Wheeze as an attactor call ?
Versatile_Hunter replied to Northcountryman's topic in Deer Hunting
I spooked a Missouri buck last weekend with a grunt. His uncertain body language should have cued me to the fact that he wouldn't likely respond with aggression or interest to my call. I'd save all the toys for peak rut and even then use sparingly. -

Congrats! What broadhead do you use for turkeys? -
@blackbeltbill has that place memorized. He may be willing to offer some pointers…

I too don’t know how I’m going to fit this in but I do know that I’m hooked. Sample fly fishing at your own risk… -

We went on our first fly fishing outing this weekend on the Ausable river in the Adirondacks. Stunning scenery and a blast. I got several bites, fought 2: broke one off and hook slipped on the other one. My lady landed this beautiful rainbow. Bunch of gear and beginner fly fishing questions forthcoming. -
4- I received another email communicating delays today. No projected timeline was offered.

I just got some picaridin. I hope it’s as effective as deet.

For a lot of these nut jobs concern for life begins at conception and ends at birth. -
Experience so far: 1- a few days after purchase I received email requesting that I call to verify order. I called and had to effectively give all the information over the phone that I had typed when setting up my order. I asked what the point was and I was told that customers make mistakes quite frequently. Annoying but fine. 2- A couple of days later I received email notification that order moved to shipping department. I was pleasantly surprised. 3- Three days later I received email notification that shipping is delayed. No attempt at offering a timeline. Both disappointed and frustrated. If delay is due to inventory, I would cancel order and go elsewhere. If delay is a mere few days due to fulfillment overload, I’m happy to wait. Uncertainty here is unnecessary and avoidable. Logistic delays have a predictable timeline that can be communicated to customer.

Do cover scents or drag scent work ?
Versatile_Hunter replied to luberhill's topic in General Chit Chat
Dammit, I just bought some Buckfever scents and scent control spray. Why couldn’t you have asked this question last week? I have some trail cams out near old scrapes and deer travel routes. I’ll post if I see any changes once I manage to get out to apply the scents. -
I placed an order for a few boxes a couple of days ago. I’ll post here if there’s any delay in shipping. I paid almost 2x what this would have cost me pre-Covid so not a good deal. Market price.

Best grouping of the day. I accidentally used the wrong pin twice and the arrows flew over the target.

40 and 50 yards. Getting there. Still need to shoot my broadhead to verify flight.

To some on this board, that lady has more standing to speak on the matter than Dr. Fauci… -
Thanks for the input. Phantom saddle and helium sticks are on the way.

Clearly a typo but seems important. What’s Ashford supposed to be?

Barring an unexpected border closure shortly before my departure, I’ll be driving up to Canada for a hunt. My outfitter is on a large lake so naturally I’ll be taking my fishing gear to try my luck at pike and walleye. I’ve mostly fished saltwater so I’d be interested to see what folks use to target these species. It will be my first time targeting walleye so I’m a blank slate on that one. I’ve got a couple of weeks to go so I can still stock up on walleye essentials. I believe there’s a ban on the use of live or dead baitfish in this region.
