  1. Thanks for the info. Well being a newbie, still having trouble finding which piece of land is huntable tho...
  2. Ahh, what about squirrels? Are they as hard as rabbits? If not, any suggestions on where to hunt squirrels in the upstate regions not far from NYC? Sorry, a total newbie, donno what's up there.
  3. I'm using a judo point. Well definitely not giving up on deer hunting ofc, just want to try out some small game. Since small game season is open upstate now, any suggestions on where to hunt squirrels in the upstate regions not far from NYC? I have no idea whats up there.
  4. Any suggestions on where to hunt squirrels in the upstate regions not far from NYC? Thanks!
  5. Hi, does anyone know any places good for bow hunting rabbits within 1.5 hours driving from NYC (preferably on Long island)? If not, any good places for hunting other small game or even foxes and such? First year bow hunting newbie here who's not having much luck with deer, so want to give small game a shot. Any help would be appreciated!
  6. Yeet good idea I think. We can exchange some contact through pm if you want. Oh, and there's the other guy who's doing something similar too @ChrisW74, let's link up.
  7. Ahh, thank you for the tips. Btw would you by any chance recommend hunting near a water source tho?
  8. Thanks, I saw them, just bought a pack.
  9. Hmm just searched up the saddle method; yeah I don't trust myself with ropes much. Probably just gonna stick to a pop-up blind this season; could give the saddle a go next season tho. With that said, do you know anything abt small game hunting spots tho? (in case I never see a deer hahaha)
  10. Wow glad to hear that there is someone doing the same thing as I am. Do you use a ground blind tho?
  11. I hunted around the 42 area. But is there any other places near NYC beside long island worth checking out?
  12. Well, that's all I got...so gotta work with it...
  13. The thing is I don't actually have a car; been hunting using a rented vehicle. So it's hard carrying a stand everywhere. Thanks for the offer tho.
  14. Hmmm I did a quick search, they all seem to be around 200-300 grain. But I've always been shoot a 100 grain tip, so would the ballistics be vastly different? Also, would they have enough power to kill a squirrel?
  15. Wow that sounds TOUGH. But for now, I have to hunt from the ground...So will have to just come out more often. Btw, on a side note, are there any game around that's easier to hunt with a bow? I probably can't hit a squirrel tho...
  16. Thanks! Seems like I'll just have to be persistent...
  17. Wasn't able to scout in the off season. So was hunting blind with only some scouting on google map. Yeah, I'll have to spend more time in the woods.
  18. Nah, not a Suffolk resident...so probably will have to come later in the season and hope persistence pays off....
  19. Yeah ikr, but have to leave before sun set according to ny rules (which is 6:26). And can't get there before 8:20-30am for personal reasons.....you think I should just skip the morning and go in the afternoon in the future?
  20. Have anyone here used Scent Thief when deer hunting? According to their ads, you want deer to smell it, and when they do, their sense of smell gets paralyzed and they can't smell anything temporarily. Does it actually work tho?
