  1. I hate the term “weapon”. That being said, I’ve taken way more deer with a bow than a gun. However, nothing beats the excitement of opening day of gun season. When you hear those first shots being fired…
  2. Enjoying words of wisdom from a National Treasure.
  3. So how would you go about getting it added to your permit? I assumed that an FFL transfer was the only way, but I have done 0 research....
  4. The only impact on me is that our 4-H program is pushing our Chicken BBQ really hard for this weekend, so my boss is really upset that we are losing a day of promotion. So, with that said, if anyone is interested in buying a few hundred chicken dinners....
  5. Good that they are taking it seriously. Again, sportsmen prove to be the most important piece of the conservation puzzle.
  6. Franks is a great shop. I've never looked at their muzzleloading supplies, but they usually have a good stock of stuff. If you follow their Facebook page, they will give updates when new stuff comes in. I'm not on Facebook much, but I will check their page fairly regularly.
  7. Welcome! Interested to know your interest in NY hunting, I'm sure it's a totally different ballgame than CA
  8. Shipping costs are the killer for online ordering of powder and ignition supplies. Bob’s Bait Shop in Corinth usually has good supply, though I haven’t been in this year.
  9. I think I hunt because it not only gives me a connection to nature, but a real connection to who I am and where I come from. I could say that it provides a cheaper source of protein or whatnot, but when it comes down to it, I could get by just fine without wild game. However, I grew up hunting and fishing with some of the most influential men I have ever met. By being in the woods and using the skills they taught me, I feel like I’m honoring their legacy and in some way, it lets me know that they are still here with me. For me hunting and fishing is a challenge, an escape, and a connection to those who helped me become the man that I am.
  10. The “LTT” barrel code would indicate a production of February of 1948 according to this entry. https://www.leeroysramblings.com/Gun Articles/remington_barrel_date_code.html https://www.remingtonsociety.org/manufacture-dates/
  11. This gives a good outline of how to date a Remington. https://www.remingtonsociety.org/manufacture-dates/ Beautiful old gun!
  12. The Redbirds clinch the NL Wildcard spot! 17 in a row!
  13. Good luck! How well does the recurve work with the front bar on the Summit?
  14. Not that I think this is good news by any means, but the PR only states GOEX and Old Eynsford, not the black powder substitutes. I could be wrong in my reading, but that's what I took from it. I wonder if they just see the trend being away from true black powder, and more leaning towards substitutes. If I'm not mistaken, Muzzleloading is really popular right now, but more going for in-line/modern guns vs traditional, which are the shooters who would be more interested in the true black powder.
  15. By no means it relate to their chances in the playoffs, and I'm just waiting for the streak to end (I thought for a while it was going to be yesterday). As a fan, it's a fun ride to be on though.
  16. I was listening to the radio broadcast, so it was kind of hard to figure out what was going on. Sounded like multiple bad calls.
  17. I would call New York State DEC. They should be able to help you.
  18. I was shooting a few slugs today through my Browning, and since I’ve been shooting trap a little more often, I found myself shooting with both eyes open (like I do with clays) vs having my dominant eye closed which I have always done when shooting rifles or slugs . I didn’t do any side by side testing, but I think I was more accurate with this style of shooting. I did notice that I tended to focus more on my target, and less on my sights. I’m really intrigued and am going to try this a bit more with some of my other guns. I guess I’m curious how many of you are both eyes open shooters vs one eye open. Also, any tricks you can offer in breaking the “habit” would be appreciated.
  19. Talk about a fun time to be a Cardinals fan. It’s been quite a ride this month.
  20. That’s too bad. Man I love beagles, they are great dogs.
  21. Start out close, and move the whole pin set. It's not uncommon for the sight to get knocked around, especially getting bumped down. There should be a screw that will adjust the whole frame up or down, and you'll need to take yours up. Start at 10 yards and work back from there. Not right now obviously, no drinking and shooting
  22. Ever flush a covey of quail in the pitch black morning? That'll make you have to go home and change your shorts
