  1. Combative, resisting, crying, screaming for her dad. I'd say that is distressed. I've said my piece, and you've said yours. I'm pretty comfortable with where my priorities sit.
  2. So your response to seeing a distressed 9 year old child (I don't care how big she is) be pepper sprayed while handcuffed in the back of a squad car is essentially "I hope she learned her lesson"? There is just some reasoning that I'll never understand....
  3. Yes, hard to watch. If your response to this is "they could have done worse to her", then we are not going to find any common ground. I agree that police have a difficult job, but unless there is some extreme circumstance that led to this outcome, then I don't think it was handled correctly. If you disagree, that's your own prerogative.
  4. Sorry, I re-read my post, and that was more than a little aggressive. I'm sorry about that, I guess it's just misplaced frustration on my part. Not okay, but I hope you understand.
  5. Not quite that long. 5 years as a High School Ag Teacher before we moved to NY. There were more than a couple of instances where one of my students was sent to me by another teacher rather than to the principal, for a little "shop time". It's amazing how therapeutic 15 minutes of welding was to some of those kids. I work with 4-H now. I don't deal with near the behavioral issues that I did as a teacher, and unfortunately, most of my role now is dealing with poorly behaved adults What did you teach? I know it was one of the most difficult, but rewarding jobs I ever had. I really think I have the best of education with 4-H, I get to work with kids who want to be there doing things they want to do
  6. I don't think you're attacking me, and as you know, I appreciate your willingness to look deeper into things. Like I said, there is very possibly more sides to this, and if something extraordinary comes out that changes my mind, I'll accept that. However, they had this 9 year old child handcuffed, with several officers on the scene. I fail to see how she could have been any kind of threat to herself or those around her. I mean, she was in custody, maybe she wasn't complying, but she's a 9 year old child. No, I'm not a police officer. I was a High School teacher for several years, and am currently a youth educator. I have dealt with more than enough "out of control" youth, not so many elementary school kids like in this instance, but teenagers. When you have a youth who is in distress, like this child obviously is, you take whatever time and resources are needed to get them to come down. This may take hours and employing professionals who know what they are doing. One thing that will not help is yelling at them to comply, and threatening them. I know that police have difficult jobs, more than I can probably understand. I know I don't know the whole story, but it doesn't look okay to me as the information stands. And one more time, I by no means think rioting is a just result of any of this. However, I have no issue peaceful protestors who want to express their frustrations.
  7. Like I said, I know there is more to this than what the video showed. However, I don't know what could justify use of pepper spray against a handcuffed 4th grader. I certainly don't think using pepper spray as a compliance tool with a child is okay, so if the only reason they sprayed her is because she wouldn't listen to them, to me, that's not okay. If something comes out that changes my mind about this instance, then I will be the first to say so, but from the information that is currently available, which admittedly is very little, it doesn't look good to me.
  8. I don't know, but I'm not comfortable seeing a 9 year old girl, let me repeat that, A 9 YEAR OLD, NINE YEARS OLD, screaming for her dad get pepper sprayed while handcuffed in the back of a squad car, are you? Maybe I'm a bit too sensitive about stuff like that though...
  9. I'll say this first off, I do not agree with rioting, but the "idiots" are protesting the police handcuffing and pepper spraying a 9 year old girl. I know the whole video isn't available, and therefore a lot of context is missing, but to say it's hard to watch is an understatement. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/police-pepper-spray-9-year-old-girl-rochester-n-y-n1256313
  10. It breaks my heart to see this. I hope she is found safe and sound.
  11. I’ll be honest, as someone who didn’t vote for Trump, I have rarely met a Trump supporter I didn’t like. Disagree with? Sure, but dislike? No.
  12. I had a couple of 4-H families who did this in Rensselaer county. A little work up front, but was a great family project. I haven’t had much luck finding 4-Hers to do this in Saratoga County yet, but I do think it’s a great program.
  13. I got my vaccine last weekend, after my wife spent literally hours online trying to make an appointment. I would have given up after 10 minutes. I had no side effects other than a little soreness at the injection site. I go back for round 2 the middle of next month.
  14. I’m not saying that Biden doesn’t have more than his fair share of gaffes, but it’s funny how this cuts off right before he corrects himself, 300 million Americans. This is at 2:45 in the video below. Not looking for an argument, just trying to provide some more information, so feel free to take it or leave it.
  15. I read that it might have been an open pack of Pyrodex pellets.
  16. Saw this on another site. Wow! https://www.reddit.com/r/IdiotsNearlyDying/comments/l87e3r/good_for_him_hes_wearing_ear_protection_and_that/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb
  17. I had one just like it, a great, classic old gun. Enjoy it!
  18. I will not leave the kitchen with any dishes in the sink, I really don't know why, but everything gets rinsed and put in the dishwasher. I also wipe down the stove after every use. You are not alone. I also cannot leave the house knowing that the bed isn't made.
  19. I think that rich people want power, and people in power want to be rich. Unfortunately, if you have one, you usually have the means to the other. Myself, I don't think either of those things would me happy. *Sorry Chris, I meant to quote @Northcountryman, but I don't know how to fix that
  20. I like to think of myself as middle left on most issues. I really just try to hear all viewpoints and go with my gut on things, which admittedly isn't always right. For the most part, I do try to see all sides of an argument, and most of the time end up staying on the fence about a lot of things. I always get myself in trouble when I get too far into the weeds on a position, because I get lost easily, usually because I'm not nearly as passionate/knowledgeable as the other side. While this makes me less of an expert on anything, I am usually not to entrenched in any position to not be occasionally swayed. As far as being mutually exclusive, I really don't know. I changed my political affiliation this past summer from Democrat to Independent because I didn't like the far left swing that appeared to be happening in the Democratic party, and I don't want to have to be defending things I don't necessarily agree with just because I'm sharing an umbrella with someone. So, that is as good of a "non-answer" as I can muster
  21. .54 is fairly common, I know a few guys who use .54 Renegades. I checked, and it didn't look like Track of the Wolf had much other than round balls, but October Country has a few options for projectiles. I'm sure you'll find plenty of options. Good luck with it if you end up with it (I don't know if that's the goal or not). https://www.octobercountry.com/balls-bullets/
  22. Do you have sources for this? I cannot find anything about him being a Democrat or Biden supporter... https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.delawareonline.com/amp/4160104001
  23. You may not have hit the lottery, but pretty darn close. Nice find.
