  1. Okay, if that stat is correct, I stand corrected, however, I can’t find it. I don’t believe the Supreme Court will touch this, no matter how many Trump judges are on the court. I will say, if that what it takes for folks to come to grips with Trump losing, then I’m all for it. I’m just ready for everyone to move on. I’ve seen good friends ready to take up arms over this, people who are better than that. I know that it’s a process of coming to grips with a loss, but I hope they don’t take it that far. I respect them too much to think they would go that far.
  2. 186 million bazillion think that it wasn’t rigged (my number is just as real as yours) I tried searching for the 56 million stat, I couldn’t find it anywhere. My guess is that this Josh Manning fellow pulled them out of his rectum hoping that someone would retweet him... I will say that I’m disappointed that so many people lose faith in our democratic system when their candidate loses (democrats included).
  3. If there was one word for today it would be WIND! I went out after the rain let up and sat in my fencerow spot overlooking an empty pasture. I stayed there until around 11:30 when the wind picked up and started hitting me in the face, making my contacts start to dry out. I moved to another spot in a ridgeline that I had scouted out. My scouting trip showed a older small scrape and a small rub, along with recent tracks. I came in from the other side today, and found a fairly fresh scrape (a day or 2 old) and a recentish and larger rub. After setting up by 12:15, the wind was a constant until I got down, completely skunked for the day at 4:30. I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get out next. With the holiday upcoming, and plans to start potty training our toddler, I’m out for at least a week I’d say. Good luck to everyone still hitting the woods!
  4. I moved around 11:30 to a ridge line I haven’t hunted before. Found a recent rub and scrape on my way. I don’t think I jumped anything on the move either. Not a ton of shot opportunities, but I’m hopeful.
  5. I’m up in a fencerow at 10:15. Hopefully something decides to mosey across in front of me. Planning to sit here to around 1, then move to another ridge location in the woods.
  6. I set up a Zoom call for 12:00, and will be out in the wind after that. I'm kicking myself for setting up this meeting now...
  7. I haven’t seen anything but squirrels and birds. I’m changing spots tomorrow, hopefully I see something. My saving grace is that we aren’t going to Illinois for the holidays this year, and I have vacation time I need to burn before I lose it. Hopefully I can put eyes on something soon. Good luck everyone!
  8. I’ve seen zilch on my 2 morning sits. I’m going to go out tomorrow after the rain stops and try my low fencerow tree (I can only climb about 8ft). I’m hoping I can at least see something so I can figure out where they are moving.
  9. The time has come to replace my trusty old Field and Stream hunting boots. I’ve noticed that the rubber is getting brittle around my ankle, and after patching a few times, more cracks keeps showing up. So, what recommendations are there for a reasonably priced set of rubber hunting boots? I don’t do a ton of walking, I just need something that is waterproof, will make my walk to the stand comfortable, and help keep my toes warm with a couple pairs of socks. I’m not looking to break the bank, just something my wife can get me for Christmas that won’t leave her with sticker shock.
  10. I’m hoping he looks familiar (as in from the trail cam photo from the other day...).
  11. I’m the same way, my best season when I lived back home in Southern Illinois, I took 11 between gun and bow season. I shared a lot of venison that year. I live in Ballston Spa/Milton up near Saratoga, and hunt over by Galway/Charlton. How about you?
  12. I can from Illinois, where it sounds like things are similar to Ohio. When you got a gun tag (through a lottery system) you got an either sex tag, or if you were late, an antlerless only. Those tags were only good for the county that you applied for. However, you could pretty much buy as many antlerless tags as you wanted over the counter. Since you’re new, welcome! How long have you been in New York?
  13. Regular season (gun) is antlered deer only. You cannot use your either sex now/muzzleloader tag. This is my first year hunting NY as well, and the antler only tags threw me as well. You can apply for DMP’s before season, which would be your antlerless permit.
  14. I’ve counted 18 shots so far this morning. I’m happy to be in a tree!
  15. I’m surprised gun and ammunition manufacturers don’t throw their money behind Democratic candidates, because they make bank when one is elected. I hate to think what fear hoarding is going to do to ammo prices over the next 4 years.
  16. I'm covering a well traveled ridge line, with some shot opportunities behind me to a hay field. I've not hunted this property much (one time). I'm hoping that I can catch something moving through, with a potential option to see something feeding. I never did find much buck sign, but the does are there, which means the bucks will be somewhere. I have another fencerow tree that gives me good views of a couple pastures with thick cover on one end, and woods on the other. I'm thinking if it's raining on Monday, I might give that one a shot.
  17. I haven't been this excited for opening day of gun season for a long time. That's what taking a 7 year hiatus will do to a guy.
  18. I’ve been waiting all afternoon for this post. Congratulations!
  19. Congratulations, glad you got a 2nd shot!
