  1. Went on a quick walk with son and dog. Dog found the following. Just in the middle of a field.
  2. Deer hunting is my focus. I anticipate shots being under 100yds, probably well under. I am rethinking my bullet selection though. Checking the Barnes website it seems like the all copper bullets need more speed compared to conventional bullets. I'm shooting out of a Rem 783 with 16.5 inch barrel. Looking at the Lyman data for TC Contender/Encore pistols (15 inch barrels) vs. the regular data, equivalent bullets/weights show a 300 to 400 fps reduction out of the TC. The regular Lyman data vs. Barnes data is 100 to 150 fps less than the Barnes info on average. So I would be looking at 400 to 500 fps less on a average out of my rifle. Is that considered a large drop? It feels like it to me but I don't know. My concern is expansion of the all copper bullets. It seems the internet suggest going a few steps light in bullet selection vs what you would use in lead core bullets. Any thoughts?
  3. I would like to thank @grampy for sharing some primers with me. I'll be sure to pass on the generosity when I'm able to find some down the line.
  4. Fyi. I wasn't aware but there is a limit of 3 boxes total of any combination of ammo.
  5. Signed up at Natchez, midsouth supply. Midway and a couple other sites
  6. Just returned from Frank's. They only had a few boxes of CCI small, large, and magnum pistol primers. All around $99.99 or so. I would like to take you up on your offer. Of course I will pay. If you have some time in the next few days maybe we can talk about it.
  7. I see your in Rotterdam from my Ruger post. Are find primers locally? I've been to NY shooter supply, American shooter supply, upstate guns and ammo, and take it to the bank. None had primers in stock, specially large rifle
  8. I'm close to Altamont Ave. Do most my shopping around there. I've only killed paper with it.
  9. I took it on trade a while ago. It's fun to shoot but for me it more of a stationary plinker. I think I would probably like a semi or pump .22 for walking around the woods. Was thinking a gallery gun or take down 10/22 instead. Its more accurate than me. I generally go out to shoot maybe once a month if I'm lucky.
  10. Starting with a Lee Classic Loader in .308. Bought all Lee accessories to accompany it for the most part. About $120 into all Lyman 50th reloading manual. Lee Perfect Powder Measure Lee Funnel Lee Case Prep Kit (cutter, lock stud, chamfer, primer cleaner) Lee length gauge Hornady Trickler Case lube Lyman Bleacher Blocks Plan on using either IMR 4064 or Varget (these would work for other calibers I may intend to reload, 223, 243). Found 4064 locally hopefully still there today. Plan on trying the Barnes ttsx 168 all copper bullets for the 308. Also plan on a diy case cleaning regimen. I will be using once fired brass from my store bought ammo. Just need large rifle primers. On multiple notification list. If I end up enjoying reloading I'll buy new rifle in new calibers to reload for.
  11. Selling a Ruger RPR in .17 HMR. One 9rd magazine, 126 rounds of Hornady V-Max 17gr, and some .17 caliber specific cleaning items. Pick up. Located in the Schenectady area. Would take some large rifle primers in partial trade. Asking $380.8

  15. Welcome. I've just got into the woods in my late 30s. This is also my 1st year bow hunting. It's tough, you read alot online then get in the field and it doesn't always translate well. There is no replacement for time in the woods. You get used to the sounds and start to pick out the deer sign.
  16. See the link below for more info direct from X-Stand https://www.x-stand.com/recall-notification/
  17. My brother's neighborhood in cornwall on the hudson has deer running through it at night constantly. While walking at night down his street you could literally get run over by a pack of deer if you don't pay attention.
  18. I am hesitant to harvest any urban wildlife, specially those in the City of Schenectady. On top of being against city code, any hunting by any means. And it's just nice to watch without any intentions for me and the neighbors. We also have deer come from the nearby tracks.
  19. Apparently they have been next door all along.
  20. It nice that the primary use will be hunting with most other uses barred.
  21. Fyi for 9h https://wbng.com/2020/10/25/dec-acquires-new-land-in-nys-for-wildlife-management/
  22. I've been meaning to start climbing trees in the backyard at lunch, since I'm working from home. Thanks for the tips
  23. I do. Attached with the tree strap. The climber I have also has straps to connect the upper and lower sections to prevent complete loss of the platform. I really appreciate the concern.
  24. I use the harness when climbing up/down. I used to do confined space work so the harness doesn't bother me at all.
