Yeah it's been a struggle for sureBitched out yesterday, ready to go today. 4am, nope let’s get up at 6 for a later hunt. Nope. Just don’t have the drive this year with the lack of activity.
Ugh

Figured I take a little stroll with the bow in 3S...kicked a huge bodied deer near where I enter, cross a little creek and see multiple turkey 75 yards away and walking slowly away through some tall grass. I figured my best bet would be to try and bust ass parallel to them and try to cut them off if they are headed where I think they are headed. Find a tree and set up behind it and hit the box call - sort of sounds like a sound a turkey would make?!? No response.
Would they return to the area where I originally move them from(presumably their roosting site)?Do I go back that way OR move deeper presuming I didn’t cut them off? OR don’t cut bait and slip out now to try and return another day pre-fly down- not looking to “jerky” out- just wondering if I would be pressuring them too much by staying here now when they know I am here

I think they will come back. I don't believe they feel pressure like deer

Was going to go out and prospect, but then my little girl got in bed with me. Said daddy let's watch a movie. I only get her every other weekend. Turkey's will still be there in two weeks. Good luck everyone.

That's awesome, I would be good if I didnt see one after that.My day was just made! Saw a doe laying down about 150 yards away in the field. Then I noticed 2 very wet and wobbly fawns trying stand up! She's licking them and they are nursing too. Awesome sight! Going to sit here and keep an eye on them for a while, hope a turkey comes out to see it too!

Awesome post, and think some people just shouldn't hunt. I bet a range finder wouldn't change their decision to pull the trigger.

Depends on if you want a mature bird or like me anything that gobbles.

Hang out, he will remember you are there and come back when his ladies leave to sit on the nestThis is my fourth morning turkey hunting and I am pretty sure I am hooked for life now. Had a rooster gobbler at about 150 yards on the other side of the property line this morning. He must have gobbled 20 times in a half hour span but I could not get to come my way. 5 minutes or so I think I found out why. 2 hens flew down to my right and beelined straight to him. I finally got eyes on him at a full strut, still on the other side of the line though. He met up with his ladies and went down the other side of the ridge and out of my life.
While all this was happening, two deer walked within 10 feet of me. To my left and were either not aware of me or just didn't care. They just casually walked by grazing the ridge, not a care in the world.
All that makes that 4 AM alarm worth it.

Damm!He gobbled easy 300x on roost. Dozen or so on ground. Collected 7 hens. Full strut n silent at 80 yards. Chasing hens. Watched him walk off and another lb joined in. So close.

I would think it would bring them in so they could do some bugging and scratching.A cool crisp morning for sure and dammit it’s getting lighter early.
Not a gobble yet which continues to perplex me. The farmers did finally till they fields which were fallow last year.
Anyone have history on what a turkey would do with that? Part of me is happy because the weeds were getting high making it hard to get a decent setup and also knowing they’ll plant something for the deer is a good sign. Just don’t know if they’ll come out to a freshly tilled field or if it will help, hurt or not matter at all.

That's rough, I know what you mean. I have to better free up my nights before I go out the next day.
