try a 308 or 7-08 if you're not going to hunt any thing bigger then black bears. They will do everything a 06 will do on that size game with less recoil

First are you watching to many hunting shows. The 1st deer looks like a 31/2 year old the 2nd is at lease 21/2. They both look like 8pt's and not knowing when the video was shot they both have more growing time left. The first one is going to score close to 130 if not in to the 130's. Unless you have a lot of land that you have control over, if either deer walks by someones stand they will be shot. So do what you want the next guy down the line may or may not thank you. .

Depends on the size of the bear if its small I would let it walk. I have had a broadside shots at bears but let them all walk.

I like when there is a 150 8 or 9 pt. and they call it a cull or a management buck. It's up to you on weather you shoot it or not, it's not up to anyone of us, it's your choice not mine.

Wow been watching this from the side lines. Never ceases amaze me how the same guys complain about the DEC not giving out enough DMP's then they complain when they increase the number of DMP's.

The DEC has always said that hunters are there primary tool for controlling the deer population. But their other methods. Right now wild game can not be sold for food the wild game you buy or go out to dinner and buy is raised on farms. Those law's would have to be changed and some of those laws are federal. The deer would also have to be killed and butchered in a FDA approved facility. I think the author is from long island where hunting is restricted and the deer herd is out of control.

I checked the harvest reports for Allegany and Steuben counties from 2000 to 2013. There is no stats the indicate that a county going from shotgun to rifle will increase the harvest. Take a look at the harvest reports and you will see there is no difference in the harvest with a shotgun or rifle. What controls the harvest is the number of DMP's issued to that county. So going to rifle just adds another tool we can use. Just to let you know just because Livingston goes to rifle that doesn't mean you will be able to use one in Letchworth state park.
