Congrat .... nice going !

Didn't see anything while sitting for 3 hours . Gotta replace that chain-on stand as there isn't much depth to the seat and my ass hurt sitting on it . I plan to move a ladder stand that I have about 100 yards away and take down the chain-on . They must have been combining beans on the other side of the woods as there was a lot of racket over there . On the bright side ..... I had a couple bowls of Venison Chili when I got home .

Gonna head out for a friend's property in Walworth in a few minutes . I have a 5 quart crock pot full of chili simmering so I can't wait to get back home and have a couple bowls of Venison Chili . We havn't been seeing much on the cams in a while daytime but some show up during the dark hours . Anyway , i'll check it out . Can't shoot anything from here .

I thought the OP was talking about Quivers / Broadheads for Recurve Bows . Quivers for compounds is pretty much a no-brainer .
-
My oldest son shoots a recurve and makes his own footed shafts . He has , what I believe is a shoulder / back quiver and sliced one of his fingers on a blade . I don't see why these quivers don't have more depth on the blade end to better protect the blades and make it safer . He shoots with single bevel blades and they are sharp !

Manhunt in Pocono Region of PA. No Hunting ?
fasteddie replied to pawle76's topic in Out of New York Hunting
The Poconos covers quite a bit of area . Is there a specific area that they are concerned with ? -
Grow --- give him a couple more years ..... yeah , right .

Those legless deer don't run very fast !

Another exciting day came to an end . I headed for South Bristol around 5 am . Saw a couple doe by the roadside on Co road 28 and thought today is going to be a great day . Got there just a couple minutes before my oldest son arrived . We got our gear ready and headed down the hill on the south side of the gulley in pitch black ( we used our headlamps ) . I put out a couple of plain doe pee scent wicks , put on my HSS harness and climbed into the ladder stand . A lot of squirrels running around . Around 9 am I saw some movement way down in the small gulley behind me . It was turkeys ..... at least 11 of them . Stayed in the stand until 11 am . My son walked down by the bottom stand and then came up along the edge of the grassy field thinking he might push something to me . Not ! Oh yeah , heard a few shotgun blasts down by the lake ... duck hunters . Also heard at least 1/2 dozen rifle shots . What the heck . We met at our vehicles to grab some lunch . I had brought a foot long sub to share . Heard another dozen rifle shots while we were at our vehicles . Took a power nap and was back in the stand by 2 pm . I stayed there until 6:11 . This used to be our Honey Hole . Not sure what has changed to affect the area .

It's gonna be a bit nippy this am in South Bristol plus the wind will be picking up . I just hope it turns out to be a good hunt .

Deer sightings havn't been great but I look forward to seeing any deer when I am out . They have gotten so much trickier in the past 50 years .

My oldest son and I plan to meet at a friend's property in South Bristol tomorrow am . We havn't hunted this area in several years but put up some stands over a month ago . I always liked this spot because even if I didn't get a shot , I always enjoyed seeing deer there . I have taken a few out of this area . A couple of gun hunters kinda screwed it up for everyone else when they tresspassed and messed it up for everyone else . We have only bow hunted there but were shut out for a few years . It's about a 50 mile drive for me .

I can hardly wait !

Hunting from one stand is tough . If the wind isn't in your favor you could be giving yourself away to the deer's super nose . Even playing the wind can be tough . I am still seeing several deer on the trail cams at night and then not seeing anything during the daytime hours . No doubt many crops having been harvested affect the deer travel . None of the corn has been taken down around here and I would wager that the deer are probably laying out in those fields filling their stomachs and laying back down . Try putting up another stand , ground blind , etc and maybe your luck will change .

Happy Birthday LTDH ! Have a great day ..........

Well , i'll be dipped !

Yeah , that gets irritating after a while ! I also avoid the word "HARVEST" . I recall one of the hunting Gurus ( Bob Foulkrod ) gave a talk at a local Sportsmen's Dinner and said you don't harvest deer , you kill them . Forget the PC crap .

We have a Gibson freezer that we bought in 1969 or 1970 . It works like a Timex ( knock on wood ) . After the freezer I bought at Sears crapped out , I bought another 7 cu ft freezer ( GE ) from Home Depot when they honored the veteran 10 percent off . Cost about $200 . Bought another 7 cu ft chest freezer from Lowes when they had the veteran 10 percent off for about the same price . I make it a point not to shop at either store as they don't recognize me as a Veteran even though I have a Wayne County Veteran's Discount card with photo ID but that's another story .

It's not an alarm . Just a remote Indoor / Outdoor thermometer from LaCross Technology . Any thermometer would work the same . It cost me Ten Dollars . I have it by the computer where I sit a few times a day .
-
I had that happen a few years ago . Went down to the basement to get some burger and when I opened the chest freezer there was a lot of moisture dripping . It had a 12 month guarantee and I had it for 13 months . No idea how long it was off . The power light was still lit . Lost my venison . Replaced the freezer and put a remote thermometer receiver in the freezer and the thermometer by my computer . It is 5 degrees

Do You Wear Hunter Orange When Getting To Your Stand?
fasteddie replied to DirtTime's topic in General Hunting
I only wear Blaze Orange when gun hunting . I hunt private property and want hunters on adjacent land to be able to see me . I don't gun hunt without wearing the Orange .
