  1. i had a deer this past weekend do a kindof backup move when i grunted to stop him.Turned a lung shot at 28 yards into a neck shot that dropped him before he could go 10 feet. Cant tell you how it feels to see your lighted knock go straight up in the air somehow, and while your reaching for another arrow, the deer runs into a pine tree 5 feet in front of him and tips over

  2. Third hand archery make the best one on the market IMO. they are about 20 bucks, and American made. im on season 4 of absolutley beating the shit out of the one bolted to my climber and its still rock solid. I even climb the tree with the bow in the holder

  3. i woulda stayed in that tree all day!

I recall one cold morning about 10 AM lowering my bow and just as my feet hit the first rung of the ladder I heard something. I look  back and its a doe on the hedge row 100 yards out. I scamper down, because I dropped the rope of course, grab the rope and pull it up. As I do a small buck runs off.

I was in the corner of a overgrown field so I could see a ways.

I watch the doe and all of a sudden this monster 10 jumps out and wants nothing to do with the doe. He's looking up the hedge row and his ears are back. All of a sudden a brawl is happening 40 yards from me. Another huge 9 and that 10 are fighting big! I drew 3 times and could not find a good shot.

While this is happening a small 6 mounts that doe. She's clearly hot...

The bucks fought for what seemed like 15 minutes. The 9 won and chased off the other big boy. Most of the fight was with the butt of one facing me. and when he was done chasing off that other buck I watched him urinate down his leg. He tore the ground up. It stunk... I could smell it.

I waited an hour before I got down. I was walking out and bumped about 5-6 smaller bucks off the area and that doe was still around.

Morale of story?? If there's hot doe around stay in your stand all day

  4. i was walking into my stand this past weekend, around 430-5.. pitch black out as its a long hike to my spot. i come to a small field, and catch eyes out in front of me with my flashlight. it was a very big bodied deer so i turned off my light and waited 15 minutes or so, hoping the deer would keep walking. he was upwind of me so i knew he couldnt smell me and wanted to minimize any damage done by running into him like this. after 15 minutes i turned on my light, didnt see him so i continued walking. i went about 30 yards and saw him 20 yards off my trail staring at me. could easily see the wide rack at this point, and he could see my flashlight, but he couldn't see me or smell me. after about 30 seconds i hear 2 snort weezes and he started stomping the ground with his front paw. . Was briefly worried of him charging me and knocked an arrow(not that it woulda done much good in the pitch black). This continued for 2-3 minutes until he lost interest and walked away. i gave it another 15 and contiinued to my stand not to see a deer all morning.

  5. layers and definitley dress at the stand. if im hiking uphill to unt i pack all my coats on my climber and actually climb the hill shirtless. When i get to the top, sweating my face off. i towel off with a small towel and put it in a grory bag at base of my tree. Then proceed to get dressed once ive cooled down and then climb the tree

  6. i carry the stand very high on my back, basically put stand straps on and then i cinch them down as tight as possible, youll find the sweet spot. same goes for stand angle, after a few weeks you get used to where to set it to get it right. Id caution you be read the instructions and only climb trees 9-18". i had one fail climbing a tree that was waaaaay too big. Also check out hazemore for the sillent seat and thirdhandman for a bow holder. I have these on mine and its awesome i perfer my titan to all my ladders

  7. The ladder itself shouldn't spook deer, they get used to it. If you are silhouetted against no backdrop, that on the other hand would. Try to brush in the top of the stand as best as you can. That cheap camo burlap they sell at sporting good stores works well for this. i tie it all the way around the tree to breakup my outline

  8. Had this all morning yesterday thankfully i planned for it. In light and variable winds i hunt stand on steep terrain above where the deer come through in the am, and below in the pm, allowing my thermals to push my scent up the hill in calm conditions, and if that wind does push my scent below me towards deer trails, its pushed out above their heads.  Had about a dozen below me yesterday.

  9. I hunt the wind. all my gear goes in the back seat of my truck day before opening day and comes out last day of muzzleloader. i only pull the clothes and wash them in my regular washing machine every 2 weeks or so unless i get soaked or sweat like crazy. I dont shower in scent free anything, i dont have scent elimination spray, and my clothes are laid down on a seat thats probably half dog hair at this point. I also regularly shoot a buck with bow and gun, (usually after work in khakis) and several doe along the way.

Play the wind, the rest is just sales

  10. I didnt know they made judgement pants in camo...

I never said 40 was my effective range, my effective range is closer to 80, i said i usually will shoot to 40, and have killed 2 at that distance. would i push the envelope for a booner under perfect conditions? yes and so would 98% of the people on here, im just being honest about it.

Again whats messed up is sitting their judging everyone on the internet with no knowledge of what your talking about.

Have a good season everybody im out
