  1. i am not a big fan of the headshot myself. A few years ago I was in the southern zone..only make a few trips a year and it was opening day...I still had my buck tag but my main purpose for being there was to fill my doe tag...About 8:30 am I look and here comes a small buck and i put the scope on it because something looked out of place...Sure enough i was right his lower jaw was just dangling from an errant headshot or possible running shot..I am then stuck with a dilema...Do I use my prescious buck tag on a deer i would normally pass on because putting the deer down is the right thing to do or let it suffer and probably never be retrieved...I chose to use my buck tag..>What would you have done?
  2. Sorry i didn't see this earlier...I live just outside the ADK and have state land a few miles from my house i could have put you on a few runways...
  3. Not sure if any of you have ran into this but the Amish just bought 3 farms around me about 2 years ago. Which is nice in some ways as they will be planting corn and mowing the fields again, but last year alone i know of 22 deer they put down on one of the farms alone. I know DEC has been there and talked to them but they seem to hunt year round and wherever the please unless you are there to turn them around. Not sure if it only happens in my area or not. BTW I will see if i can get a Pic of them all in their wagon with their guns going down the road. It's pretty funny
  4. If Spikes never grew bigger racks I would have nothing but spikes running around my area...I have pics of 5 different spikes this year alone from 1 stand...
  5. I will try to get a closer look this weekend while i'm out there..I have tons of pics of him but i want to see it up close...My son will be with me so if i can get a poke at him i will put him down.
  6. Any opinions on what the spot on this 3 points back and left leg are. And ya he is pretty ripped....Probably from all the running from the Amish chasing him.
  7. BBH I hunt in Herkimer County Town of Russia. Still alot of state land.
  8. It is...Grew up in the area and always had good luck...No farmers left around so the rack's have diminished. Had this pick and 3 spikes and a crotch within a 1 week period. Nothing real big yet though.
  9. Hope they keep getting bigger but looks pretty healthy.
