  1. I heard the same thing behind my parents' house. Thought it was a person. Checked it out and found nothing. Went on youtube and found a video of a red fox crying and it was exactly what I heard. Creepy before I knew what it was.
  2. If you know a fly fisherman they might be interested as well. I tie my own flies and use the tails plus blend my own dubbing from the body hair.
  3. Thanks. I'm definitely just learning. I've realized a few things. 1. You need a lot of space to store all of the stuff you need. 2. you need a lot of money to buy all of the stuff you need. 3. Did I mention you need a lot of stuff? I'm going to start out with some shell decoys and field hunt geese on my own. I need to buy a house to store full body/floater decoys
  4. Went on my 2nd waterfowl hunt last Sunday with some success. I'm grateful for my friend that took me out. Nice to have someone that knows the ropes to teach you and get you some birds.
  5. Posted on another ny forum for people to keep an eye out.
  6. I made it out 2 weekends ago. My dad and I each got one on Saturday and he got another on Sunday. Going again this weekend. I skin by cutting through the skin around the circumference of the body, peel each half off to the feet and cut off the feet and head then cut the body open to pull out the guts.
  7. No thanks, I'll keep them. Sears #6 sport loads. Yes... Sears.

    Hello

I goose hunted a lake near Fulton. A friend took me to his spot. I have a small spot to hunt on my own near Rome, NY with some fields. Rome is a long way from Alfred. I do to go SUNY Alfred for work a lot though. Yep, among the other way too many forum I'm on.
  9. Shoot it. I have ammo that has been sitting around for years and still works. It's never been in any dehumidified space. Some of them are 16ga paper shells and I still use them from time to time. They were my grandfather's who passed away over 10 years ago. No idea how long he had them in his drawer but being paper I would guess quite a while.

    Hello

Hi. I'm Jeff, 32, mechanical engineer from Rochester. I mostly hunt in northern Oneida County where I grew up and my parents still live. I got away from hunting while I was in college but have started to get back into it over the last few years. I've been into target shooting more than hunting for the last several years. Defensive pistol, defensive/combative carbine and precision (F-class) rifle. I've hunted spring turkey for the past 3 years without any success. I grew up hunting grey squirrel from the time I was 12 or 13 until college and have gone a few times since then. A few weeks ago I went on my first goose hunt and I'm hooked so I'm gathering all of the stuff I need to do that on my own. Look forward to learning on the forums.
