Headed to Maryland tomorrow.

Wake is in Maryland. Waiting for details. One hell of a guy. 91 still getting it done running his backhoe. Nicest guy you ever would meet. There was a gun raffle in Canisteo a few weeks ago. He was going to be there but could not get a ride up. Boy I wish he made that. The whole family was there. He would hunt his property opening day through Wednesday. On his last day he would come over to my place and hunt my honey hole. Don't you know more than not he would shoot a buck on that day. Just got home from work. Going to jump on the tractor and mow my fields and think about him. oh one last story......he lost three fingers when he was a kid to a plater. Got stuck in the gears. He did fine without them. He actually joined the Navy but kicked him out when they found out he had only three fingers on one hand. RIP my friend!
Thank you guys!

Funny but my brother just moved there sunday. He was from Long Island and has 3 college rentals there. Took over one of the smaller places for himself. He loves to fish maybe I can hook you guys up? Good luck!

They should make the first day mid april. IK've seen geese babies no Turkey yet.

It's real quiet here. I see a hen or two in typical nesting spots. Question, So the Hen makes the nest on the ground. She feeds during the day and roosts or sits on eggs at night? I imagine she has to sit on her eggs at night making her very Vulnerable to predators.

Every big windstorm I hope my elevated blind survives. I'm more worried about a dead ash tree falling on it than I am of it being blown over but I guess that wouldn't surprise me either. Hopefully this year I can get the legs into concrete like we started doing.
We put up an old metal shed on an elevated platform and cut windows on the sides. Lasted about a year. A big poplar tree fell on it, crushed the damn thing!

So we had some bad winds yesterday. My neighbor takes his Granddaughter down to a tree hut this morning. Been up for many years. They find it on the ground all smashed up. Wind took it down. I remember working on this stand a few years ago and dint like what I saw. Be carful out there they don't last forever!

Can't kill them from the living room. 7:45 dogs looking out window barking. I come over and there is that Tom I shot at opening day with his three hens. About 40 yards away walking up to my cut corn. He is a nice bird for sure.

Headed out in a few. No wind and clear should be a good morning! I have three hours to hunt before work. Hope to get it done!

Not to go off topic but can you kill a Turkey at 40 yards not hitting him in the neck or head?

I had a Tom walk up the clover field gobbling around 6 PM last night. Crossed the road and my corn field. Let out the dogs at 6:30 and he blowing up in my field. I'll hunt tomorrow. Good luck guys!

I had 7 deer come by the decoys. A button buck spent a half hour trying to figure them out. After they left a tom with three hens came across the corn field. I shot at 40 yards. 3" nitro shot. Hens flew off but the Tom did not follow and flew off in another direction. I looked for 2 hrs but found nothing. Had 5 jakes going crazy an hour later but could't get close enough. It was a good morning!

He is way over average size. I think around here 150-200 is more average. I have no idea how old that big one is.

Just let the dogs out and Bam gobbling behind my corn field. That is where I'll set up tomorrow.
Please say a prayer for a good friend and hunter!

Was at the wake today. A lot of very old hunters there but a few new young ones among the crowd. We have to keep this pastime going. Too many wonderful, great, funny stories shared about hunting camp today! Thank you all!
