  1. Awesome, buck is so symmetrical. Did you have it scored?
  2. It truly divides. My late FIL would say fill all those tags that's what they are there for. Things have changed a lot. There is so many factors that go into what type of deer you set your sites on. Judge the hunter on the size of the smile not the horns after the harvest!
  3. First night and i blew it. Venison stew...
  4. I should get two bags of: Sand cherry, winterberry, red osier dogwood, silky dogwood, red oak
  5. I bought this house 5 years ago. Original owner passed in 1987 she was a school teacher. It was left to her niece who used it as a summer home. When she died it was put up as an estate sale. I bought it with some original property left in basement and garage. One of the things I found were a stack of National Geographic magazines. hat stack contained an issue from 1911. It had a 64 inch B&W pullout of a picture taken of the Rockies. Value $350 bucks. There were a bunch more from that era I still have never looked into the value!
  6. Speaking of old magazines I was a subscriber to ODL for many years. Started when I was a kid probably 15 years old. This would make it 1978. Back then they always did these give-aways to subscribers. I have B&W drawing of bears, deer, dogs and turkey. Numerous patches I have on a hunting vest I wore back in the 70's. Drink coasters with wildlife scenes on them. Those are a few that come to mind but there are more. Best thing is that they are all still in my possession at the cabin!
  7. Same here Bob is wonderful. Howdy Bob hope you are well, Burt.
  8. I have a bunch of ODL from the 60's. Great reads!
  9. Got an email yesterday saying my property was picked for the free buffer bank plantings. Should get them in April! More info tk
  10. Love the mount and the way it sits on the wall.
  11. Just be careful if you get some old equipment to use. Some of that stuff doesn't protect as well as the new stuff. Not worth an injury.
  12. What was that poor fella dragging. Looked like his tail but way too long.
  13. From another site. Just shows had brutal it can be out there. Hey we all have to eat just so tough to watch. That buck looked slightly old but in good shape. Wonder what happened?
  14. Collar on the dog. That deer is dead and the dog knew it. At that point let the dog eat it. Hope it didn't kill it then head home to a bowl of mighty dog!
  15. Love it! Not over done looks great!
  16. Made 3 lbs of cubed steak in the crock pot. Daughter has soccer tonight at 7;30. Told her to eat a little before we left and we can finish it up later tonight. I check in just before we left and this is all that is left in the crock pot! Sucks for me.......
  17. Now that my last post on CWD really was uneventful to the majority of you here is some good news. But before you read it just imagine your eco system turned upside down? Bet you there would be a lot of unhappy wives out there! lol Here is the news I heard today. Forget about the cure but listen to what he says about Alzheimer's disease and curing 15% of the ones that have it. I pray this is all true and happens quicker then they say. https://ljsp.lwcdn.com/api/video/embed.jsp?id=9c682ea3-34f0-4ccb-991c-6e23a5bd073a&pi=b1d70b5c-8e54-463f-9ced-1ca62c173276&fbclid=IwAR2vLeU1b6R6sO8-YI-Ivq-aN_EHputSrHbbsULVmG8umZSb1ZHCy4PfFgE
  18. Awesome Eddie. Take it slow and let that muscle memory come back. Good luck!
  19. Take a read at the latest edition of ODL adventure issue. It has a real informative article on CWD. Sure sheds some spotlight on deer farms and what us hunters can do to help contain the spread of the disease. Well written but tends to focus on deer farms as examples of spreading the disease. To me ODL is the Holy Grail in outdoor writing been reading it since 1970. Please don't comment until you read the article. We know how everyone feels about our resident deer farmer.
  20. Yeah what ever happened to mad cow???
