  1. My girl has the second day of a soccer tournament on Randels Island Manhattan today. It was brutal yesterday. Our first game today was forfeited by the other team it was a 9:00 start. Thanks to the soccer gods, its 15 degrees and a 20 mph wind. We have to wait and see if we play in the championship round at 12:45. It should be at least 30 by then.
  2. I wasn't in the tree at the time but one of our tree stands came down in a wind storm. The top of the tree broke and smashed the tree stand and it fell to the ground.
  3. If you ever spent time in NYC that background noise is loud. A lot of that is from trucks and cars. Could you ever imagine what it would be like with all battery powered cars and trucks. Pretty quiet for sure….then again there is always the jackhammer!
  4. So if hunting is a sport do I get a T.V. timeout to go take a shit and when am I going to see the instant replay on my shot to see if was hit or not. lol
  5. It's all how you define sport. I don't hang up my gun like a pair of cleats after the game. By golly in the end something dies.
  6. Local guys got it done today. Shot 1 female and 1 male.
  7. I don't see hunting as a sport. Just doesn't fit into my definition of sport. Hunting is an activity to fulfill a desire within myself to kill an animal. An animal that will be used for food. As hunters the excitement of the kill is not matched by most things in life. Hunting brings out your primal instincts and some are just better at it. Hunting is too complicated to be called a sport, you're killing something in the end. So just not a sport for me…thats all.
  8. I use them just to see whats in the area. I have one stand that sits over a cam. The stand was there first. As to how to hunt without them? Been hunting for almost 40 years. First you would look for the usual sign. Ask people who travel the roads around your land what they have seen. We would also go out in the morning and late afternoon and watch fields to see the deer coming out. I'll tell you one thing though, hunters were more apt to shoot the first nice buck that came along. No camera proof of that big boy lurking around.
  9. Prayers for a fellow hunter
  10. Looks like the local guys will be running coyotes next week. Got a call for permission to enter my property if needed. I was fine with it and wished them luck. My neighbor been hearing a lot lately so hopefully they will connect. Being a landowner there is nothing like getting a phone call asking permission to hunt rather then learning hunters were all over your property when you were not there.
  11. Looking at a place for a friend on Cole Bank rd West saugerties. Small ranch on 2.5 acres. Nice part its at the foot off Indian mountain area. Nice trails in that area. Does anyone know what its like during hunting season? What I mean is it heavily hunted? Looks pretty thick and not many roads to and from the mountain. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, FL
  12. Howdy I'm from Northport and hunt out east and the Finger lakes.
  13. They are truly best friends….sorry for your loss.
  14. Had my first Chick-fil-a today. It was really good!
  15. tried looking at them in photoshop but there is no detail in the shadow areas. Can't tell what the heck it is?
  16. I would of called you as soon as I found it. People are jerks he should of given it to you. That said I will never get into an argument over a deer especially at gun season.
  17. Howdy, I live on Long Island but my home is in the Finger Lakes! lol
  18. Pretty nasty out there now. Wind and heavy snow. I could be done with this by now! lol
  19. Kids get a flu shot every year. Last week the younger one had the flu. Doctor told us the flu shot this year sucked and was a waste of time.
