  1. When I bought my land back in 2007 I ordered 300 white pine from the nursery. We planted them in April of that year. They were pencil size trees that are now almost 6-8 feet tall. I would say a good 250 made it. Well worth the 50 or so bucks I paid for them. Also had my kids help plant them and we call each area they planted their forest. Buy them now before they get sold out of some species. On a side note for some reason the bucks don't like to rub white pine, why I don't know but none were ever torn up??
  2. Brother and his friend hunted all day and saw nothing. No deer were brought into the chaco station. He also didn't see much sign. Maybe the sharpshooters got them all….lol
  3. Number of deer were checked in yesterday. 1 small 8 and a bunch of doe. My brother is going out tomorrow with his friend. Good luck to them and espessoBuzzzzz!!!! Dress warm!!
  4. My neighbors Granddaughter uses a 223 and My niece. Both have taken deer with these guns. The smaller caliber is what these girls were after. Gun did its job for sure.
  5. If thats the Island I would say older maybe 3.5 or 4.5.
  6. I wouldn't bother. My advice would be to walk into the wind. Last time I hunted public land out there I walked probably 7-10 miles in the day and kicked up a ton of deer. GL
  7. It seems that does come into cycle from early Oct all the way through late December. So yes a late doe could be making the youngster chase her.
  8. My neighbor is walking our properties Wednesday with a Forestry manager. I'll report back on his findings.
  9. I primarily use a Remington 1187 12 gauge, rifled barrel with a scope. Use light field slugs. Gun is dead on at 100 yards. Gun is 30 years old and very reliable. Site the gun in but I would get the rifled barrel first. Good luck!
  10. Grow who owns the camp, the whole family?
  11. I was just walking around some of the woods that this buck lived in. You have to see some of the cedar trees rubbed up. Not just one or two but 10-15 huge trees ribbed to shit. Pretty amazing but he is not the only big one that lives there. FYI just found a tick crawling up my neck. Warm weather has these bastards out again. BTW for the salt fisherman I have never seen so much bait in Northport harbor so late into December. There is plenty of hearing but acres of peanut bunker and other baitfish. Water hovering around 48-50 degrees.
  12. I sparrows and marinated spearing once. A greek friend made this and it was pretty good. The sparrows were eating from his olive tree and he had to do something about it! lol
  13. Good to hear from you. Love it that it's working out upstate! Happy Holidays!!!
  14. I did the same exact thing. That uneven ground raises hell on the machine.
  15. I like it. I requested that my buck had ears in different directions. Something different a bit out of the norm won't hurt! Can't wait to see the finished product.
  16. Our first meal from the harvest this year. Venison meatballs prepared by my daughter!
  17. Both. Mostly in ladder stands but we have a few ground blinds set up.
