FYI I just had a piece I bought surveyed. This is 10 acres that borders me so I know two corners. The surveyor only marked the corners and placed an additional two ribbons along the back and down my side. I thought by looking at the tax maps that the property was a rectangle pretty much in proportion. When I was up two weeks ago I found the other two markers and it seems as though the back end of the property is much smaller than the front. So now I wait for the actual survey map to double check. When I say smaller it has to be at least 2-300 feet shorter.

If you go to Long Island Deer Hunting on Facebook you will see that there was a spike in buck kills this past week. Some really nice deer taken. I believe they are seeking now thus leading to more kills. Its time to be in the woods!

Here on LI this past week posting of nice bucks taken really shot up. The definitely are in the seeking phase ruining around. BTW that website is run by an old grouchy guy…..lol. Some nice pictures on that site!

Just bought 10 acres adjacent to my land. Last weekend I found a ladder stand on it pretty close to my stand and in the honey hole area, bedding zone. Took it down and left it at the base of the tree with a posted sign on it. Thought it might be someone from town being dropped off or maybe guys leasing the land across the road. Turns out it was the land owner behind me that did not know his land boundaries. We are all on good terms and connected on a phone call and he asked if I took down the stand. We laughed because I never suspected them and thought they knew the boundary lines. Simple phone call cleared it all up, mystery solved.

Nice job at the tournament! My daughter tried out for the LI Rough Riders Premier travel team last month. She made it so now we are on two different teams and a whole lot of traveling to do! lol We all love it so it goes. Good luck getting that first deer Zem!

I found a tree stand on the adjacent property to mine that I am buying. It was last weekend, no one has permission to hunt this property but me. The person cut a small tree down and some limbs. I took the stand down and placed it at the bottom of the tree with a posted sign on it. Hope he gets the message.

Shoot it and get it over with.

Thanks all. Along the back was one ribbon in the middle of the back stakes. The side that borders me has 1 addition ribbon. The north side is not marked and actually comes down from the road at an angel. That is the side I will mark once I get the survey. All good info-thanks again. FL

I had a piece of property surveyed. I found all 4 corner pins. Front boundary is on the road and back is a pretty straight line not that far. The side to the north is the longest distance and does not have any ribbon markers on it. Would it be ok if I ask the survey company to come back out and put markers on that side or just wait for the survey map and do it myself? Is this asking too much? This side needs to be posted. Thanks, FL

Not such a great weekend for deer. I saw one small buck 10 hours on stand. My brother saw 5. Not much on the trail cam either. Thats the way it goes some weekend…..weather was perfect though.

As you know my hunting time is very limited (1 bow and gun weekend and a few quick trips out on LI) because of my new business. We leave this afternoon (my brother and I) around 2 and hope to be at the cabin by 8. I can't believe how we hit it perfect on the weather!!! All day sit tomorrow for sure they will be moving. I need this weekend really bad and I hope I get a few looks at some decent bucks. I'll pull the cards also and post picts. Good luck everyone and have fun! FL

Crab trees

I've noticed them eating the apples later in the season for some reason. Maybe the apple breaks down while on the ground and is more palatable to them. -
Congrats to the METS!

Great video, always enjoy them. -
Pretty excited. Highs in the low 40's and lows of 27 Saturday night. Rain snow showers all weekend. Going to be down right nasty but……that's when the big boys start lurking around!

Very nice buck for early season. Getting them on the feed bag!

I believe it is, Pap said a CVA or Wolf(?)

I believe in staying to last light. You never know what may come along. There have been times when I thought everything was perfect and I get a big goose egg to show. Legally you should stop hunting at sunset in your area, some do some don't. This thread will turn into a pissing match about what I just said…lol. I personally don't watch the time, I'll call the day myself.

Covered in dark red blood……almost purple looking? That would be liver. Had the same thing happen with a liver shot buck. Arrow was coated with dark red blood tip to tip. Deer left blood in the beginning but it stopped after a while. Found the deer 7 hours later while watching the skies for crows. They were pecking at his wound making a hell of a commotion. Good luck and get back out there tomorrow for one last look.

Just happens to be that my 1 bow weekend this season will this coming weekend. Just happens to be the first real cold front of the season. Forecast is for mid 40's during the day and low 30's with possible snow showers at night. Talking with my brother in-law he said the first real cold days of bow season can bring some great hunting. Deer will be very active and it will pump up the bucks. I have seen this in the past a few times early October when the temps got down in the 20-30's. Granted being that cold they will move anyway but it just seems to get them really moving being it is the first real cold snap. Anyone else observe this? FL

Look up some comparable listing on real-estate sites. Place looks nice, sorry you have to sell.

No fencing, that is crazy.
