  1. Covered in dark red blood……almost purple looking? That would be liver. Had the same thing happen with a liver shot buck. Arrow was coated with dark red blood tip to tip. Deer left blood in the beginning but it stopped after a while. Found the deer 7 hours later while watching the skies for crows. They were pecking at his wound making a hell of a commotion. Good luck and get back out there tomorrow for one last look.
  2. Just happens to be that my 1 bow weekend this season will this coming weekend. Just happens to be the first real cold front of the season. Forecast is for mid 40's during the day and low 30's with possible snow showers at night. Talking with my brother in-law he said the first real cold days of bow season can bring some great hunting. Deer will be very active and it will pump up the bucks. I have seen this in the past a few times early October when the temps got down in the 20-30's. Granted being that cold they will move anyway but it just seems to get them really moving being it is the first real cold snap. Anyone else observe this? FL
  3. Look up some comparable listing on real-estate sites. Place looks nice, sorry you have to sell.
  4. Nice deer! Your plan worked perfect nice job.
  5. So I can watch the Ranger games via MSG on the net?
  6. I did it in Steuben county. Bought the land, had the Amish build the shell for the cabin, finished it off with my brother, property is in the Ag program that keeps the taxes low, many opportunities at huge buck, turkey and bear. The place is a dream come true. My neighbor is like a brother to me. Every piece fit together perfectly. Good luck finding your place.
  7. That gun is a 243 single shot. She is deadly with it!!! lol
  8. Here is Kaylie with her 3pt she got this morning. Two years in a row for her!! Grand Pap is the guide….what a great hunt, Congrats! This is the camp next to mine.
  9. Just got back to the thread, WoW! Thanks a whole bunch for all that information. taking it in and will make a decision. Thanks again!
  10. I'm keeping my internet service but might get rid of cable for the TV. I'll buy a digital antenna and get the local stations. What else is there out there that I can use to download movies and such when my girls come over. I'm not a big TV fan and its basically a waste of money. I know about Netflicks and Hulu but just don't know how it works? Thanks FL
  11. Good luck charms from my girls. They don't care about horns, just the meat! Some type of paper towel or baby wipes for post gutting process. Hand warmers just in case it gets real cold.
  12. Basic firearms rules and I only ask to try to better yourself on the next buck you take. If you come to my camp and never shot a deer you can shoot anything. We drive 6 hours to get to camp and hunting time is limited. I take this into consideration also.
  13. You can have a bow with you as a mentor.
  14. Parents will hit 65 years in April.
  15. Shot a big 9pt years ago. This was the same deer my friend shot at 2 weeks earlier. His shot hit low, back in the stomach area. When the deer was hanging he looked at the hide and we saw his arrow hole going through both sides of the deer. His arrow had light pink blood on it and greased up like you said. Again there was blood initially but stopped after a while. When I shot the deer he was chasing a doe and feeling just fine. Good luck!
  16. "This is how we roll" get 'em tomorrow!
  17. That is a tough, may the future have something special in it for you. I am currently purchasing the hunting camp adjacent to my property. Health reasons have them selling it. I am taking baby steps with them because I know it is so hard. Even offered them the place to use after we close. Good luck this season.
