  1. Picture of my Father in law over the back door. You go through this door out to the woods, everyone says his name. He has been gone 3 years and loved to hunt and fish.
  2. Here are some pictures. No manufacturer name on the safe. Sorry the tumbler pict is a bit blurry.
  3. Very Funny but she was never married. I'm thinking gold coins, exotic jewelry and cold hard cash!! lol and what you mean "worth watching" ??????? I received a million hits on YouTube from that miss video!!
  4. Damn, now instead of painting all weekend you guys are firing me up to get this thing open!! All good suggestions and I will definitely video tape the opening of the safe!
  5. Sorry guys! Kind of looks like this. I will get the manufacturer tonight when I'm over there.
  6. Long story short…..I just bought a house from an original owner. It was built in 1942 and has two safes. One built into the foundation and one in the hallway closet. The house has not been lived in (but cared for) since 1987 when the owner died. It was left to a Niece that passed away in February. The safe in the basement is open but the hallway safe is locked. The executor of the trust did not have the combination. There is no family living to inquire about the combination. So how do I get into this thing???
  7. A bit harsh Paula, don'y you think. This kid was out looking, using social media for suggestions. I like what he did. We always bitch about kids not getting involved in hunting, this kid goes the distance and then some. Good for you John. You gave it a good look and at times you just have to give up. Hopefully the deer lives and maybe you see it again. I'll use the word "failure" in a sense that you failed to find the deer. What you have learned from this experience you keep in that head of yours and use it next time you have to track. Good luck with the rest of the season!
  8. You have some good hunting buddies, you're lucky Eddie!
  9. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/40399.html Try this
  10. This Yote I saw was about 50 yards out. It was big enough for me to think that is a large dog. As you say the coat could of been very thick. He was jet black don't know if that is rare for them?
  11. Like I said it was a tale, I did see photos of some big dogs whether they we Coyotes or not I don't know.
  12. If you hear crows making a lot of noise give a look. I found a nice buck this way when all else failed. I also go in a direction that normally I wouldn't think the deer would go. Again when all else fails. Good luck John.
  13. Larry, When you are in your stand do you switch your tether to a permanent one around the tree? Good info-thanks
  14. I have to figure out the life line. Going up and down worries me. I'm going to make it mandatory next year for all stands.
  15. This guy was the size of a big German Shepard. Thanks for the info folks.
  16. I'm in bow stand a week ago and here come two doe. About 50 yards out. They are walking, trotting at times then browse for a bit. They then head straight across my field to another part of the woods. All this time the doe that was behind kept her tail curled in the air. They didn't seem spooked just on alert. They disappear and not 2 minutes later the biggest blackest coyote comes rolling in hot on their trail. The thing is he wouldn't cross the field. He stopped where they entered and skirted the field edge until out of site. Was he hunting them alone? This thing was huge the tail was long and bushy like a Malamutes tail. I almost thought it was a wolf.I actually said how would I defend myself against that thing if face to face. bad enough we have bears now this super yote is out there. So does he hunt alone? At dusk I hear at least 2 packs howling getting ready for activities for the evening. Any info would be great. BTW just saying I have seen trail cam picts from the area 8P that show a cross breed animal coyote/wolf. The tale is that the DEC introduced these animals years ago and some survived. Hard to believe but I did see pictures and wether they were just huge coyotes I don't know. Any info on these puppies from a resident expert would be great. Oh BTW last winter we had two different groups of hunters in our area killing these things. The hunted with dogs and put a hurting on them over the winter. But by the sounds at dusk it seems there are still many out there.
  17. Nice deer, big head on him. That will make a real nice mount!
  18. Maybe one of those "spinal shock" shots. Will knock the deer down for a bit then it will get up wobbling away. If he hit high in the shoulder this is possible. Where the deer falls will always leave a decent amount of blood. GL
  19. This might be the weekend, cold and they are on the move. All day sits fellas.
  20. Nice Zem! Bear picture is funny looks like he is making a face at you. That buck is sweet hope you get him!
  21. We never shoot a deer a second time in my camp wiht the bow, in fact same goes for the first shot. lol good luck finding him.
  22. Ladwaz, Did you have to do that! lol Now how many bear have it? That is pretty sick and makes me think let the bear walk!
