  1. I always wanted that. I have a perfect setup for a decoy but never got around to buying one. Good luck!
  2. Imagine a America energy independent. Just imagine what would happen in the middle east? To think this was used so many years and still will be for a vote………We are screwed any way you look at it and will always be tied to the middle east.
  3. Mike works for the town "code enforcement" not a likable guy. lol
  4. The Weather channel to make a show about us? "Fat guys in the woods" Sunday nights at 10:00! (You will not see Wooly on this show)
  5. Hey guys just a reminder you can't shoot a sow with cubs or a group of bears. I say this because one year I was ready to pull the trigger on a pretty decent bear. It came in alone and was by me for 5 minutes until 2 cubs showed up from the tall grass. Just be careful and make sure no cubs are trailing.
  6. Look at his neck, I think he goes 300+.
  7. Actually my place has NYSEG lines going through. I have never had a problem with people thinking it was legal to hunt the lines. There are about 10 posted signs that line the roadway where the lines go over.
  8. People can't read, oh I didn't know, hell I've been hunting here since a I was a little boy, everyone said the new owner would allow us to hunt, I didn't see the posted signs (they are blind also). I catch someone on the property or my neighbor does the first thing we do is take a picture of their back tag. This usually gets them thinking we mean business. You have to be stern the first few times you catch someone, then the word will spread.
  9. I live on the Island and have seen some of the pictures of the bites from the baby ticks (chiggers) that the guys get early season. There is no way I would go in the woods before the first frost. To each his own and I know you can spray down with the chemical that keeps them off. I'm thinking it has to do with the pine barons and the sandy ground?? Just my thought. I give you credit for going out there especially with your kids!
  10. Main is not NY. I shot at a bear that size two years ago and missed. Would of loved to have all that meat as Yogi burgers.
  11. So with the start of early bear season there is a bigger dilemma on how to care for your meat after the bear is down. It was in the high 80's this weekend and I saw some reports of bear being taken. I would imagine you kill the bear, gut it and get it to the nearest cooler (processor) around ASAP. I saw some pictures of bears hanging and actually you can see flies on the bear. I think when hunting early season you must have a game plan especially if the shot is not good and you recover the next day. I'm sure the meat would not be consumable.
  12. Posted signs or not if you don't live at your hunting property or have a close neighbor looking after it it will be hunted by the locals, that is a fact.
  13. I have non active real scrapes that will become active mock scrapes soon.
  14. Hey with this contest you will need to bag 4 deer, there you go! Hope all is well, it's almost here!
  15. I don't put my name on the posted signs, never did.
  16. A guy on the LI hunting site got a bear with a crossbow this morning. Nice young bear probably around 125-150lbs. In the corn field.
  17. I really don't have enough time in the woods with a xbow to compare. I probably would of tried both and made a decision after seeing which was more comfortable and precise in hitting the target.
  18. First time for everything. Thanks Doc.
