So my buddy has three reveal cameras on the lease property. He keeps them going all year. In the last month a few small bears have come by. Big guy came by this week. One night he hung around for hours! Pretty nice one for this time of year.

Teddi Competes this weekend with the A2 Spartans Sandhurst team. I'll go down early Friday to watch as much as I can. Teams from all over the world are at West Point for the competition. Her words to me, " Dad I'm nervously excited" that's Teddi! Wish her luck!!!! I'll report back. https://www.westpoint.edu/about/traditions/sandhurst

When do the dates come out for deer season
First-light replied to luberhill's topic in General Chit Chat
Yeah next season the third Saturday in Nov is early. Nov 16th to be exact. Thanksgiving is in the second week after opening day. -
I remember reading an article about how these stores were going more into the apparel business and would need to revamp the footprint of the stores. Much more profitable for them.

I watched a few years back the Long Island stores start moving out the hunting sections. The background checks were causing them to hire more people to handle that. Along with a big footprint in the store they were not profitable. A big Field and Stream store was opened next to Dicks in Huntington. That closed and became a Public lands co. Owned by Dicks. No hunting stuff. Now I don't live on the Island anymore but my friends now go back to the Mom and Pop stores for guns and ammo. Maybe a good thing? Glad I have a few around me in Arkport and Bath.

Our group did pretty well. Two rifles won and three secondary prizes. Mine was a paid banquet at whitetails unlimited in September. Hope to taste some game I've never had!

Here in Howard the clouds ruled. It got pretty dark around 3:25 but within minutes was back to normal. We saw nothing....but it was a nice party and the kids enjoyed the day off!

Had a Tom behind my house around 9:30 am gobbling. Also yesterday afternoon around 4 pm a bunch were gobbling back and forth. Not missing the opener this year!

Burt Carnesi I lost two dear friends these last few weeks. They were the care takers of my dogs when I made my trips to Long Island. They owned a Kennel called Pet Hospetailty! I knew trhem for 2.5 years. Deana was a pet whisperer. She told me what my dogs needed. Steve was a care taker and bowed to their every wish. We exchanged things and gave Christmas gifts. They wore West Point gear with honor. Steve was an MP. They gave me kindness in a way that was un repayable. They loved wild game and gave them a whole deer processed this year. They died in a 1 car traffic accident two weeks ago. I only found out today after trying repeatly texting Deana. She was always on the ball but just maybe her phone was out. I had Steves email and sent a message. His Mom responded and told me what happened. Sole mates taken at the same time. Myself and my dogs will dearly miss them along with all the other animals they cared for. Rest in peace my dear friends.
