  1. HBB you know who my buddy is in 8s, he has been out for the last few days and has seen deer but no chasing yet.
  2. I would take both shots.
  3. Could it be that opening of gun will be at the height of the rut??
  4. That arrow is angling forward. Entry looks to be right in the muscle region of the jaw. I would think the lower jaw would be out of place or hanging down??? If true hope the animal gets some help.
  5. My daughter texted me last Friday morning (before the hunt) when we had all that wind. She said, "Dad hunt smart" that was all I needed to stay out of the tree stand during the real windy periods.
  6. Only Indians can do it that way........they shoot instinctively! lol (but true) You gave it a good try, sheet happens....
  7. I'm just amazed that didn't break off. That deer had to run through the woods????
  8. Water builds up in this area and rusts them out. Bring them in this year for sure.
  9. If you can't control it from freezing at night and getting above 40 degrees during the day I would go no longer than 2 days.
  10. Folks, Was talking with a friend and he knows I have a few gorilla tree stands. He told me the cables that run down to the base of the stand can rust out if the plastic coating breaks down. This is happening to stands 3 years and older. Thought it was a good idea to post and alert everyone to check out the plastic coating on the cables. Told me the area to look at is at the bottom where the cable makes an eye and is crimped. This is the area a bolt and a large washer go through to hold it all together. Be safe, FL
  11. No wonder I'm not seeing deer, I wash with that soap!!! lol
  12. See trainers all the time in NYC. They don't want the dog distracted with the petting. Same goes for the bomb sniffing dogs at our building. They are out there in full gear just like a blind person would be.
  13. I'm doing the same without the boy scout camping. Good luck!
  14. Fletch I was in the stand this weekend 17 hrs. Saw three bucks (one was a shooter) and two other deer. We still have massive amount of corn standing in the area. Don't know if they are in that??? Apples and acorns galore all over.
  15. Man that sucks. At least the traffic wasn't bad today on the way home. I sat 8 hrs Saturday and saw nothing. Maybe next weekend???
  16. Saw three deer this morning. A very large grey mass cutting up the usual way the big guy move, a little 4 pt that skirted my field at 8:00 looked like he was late for something. Also saw a yearling playing in I guess his first snow. Just having a ball with not a care in the world. That is where I left it..........back the Friday before gun season one last time in the bow stand.
  17. Dusting of snow 31 degrees. I'll be in stand until 9:30 then hauling it back to Long Island.
  18. Joe what zone are you hunting??
  19. Thanks grow! It was not a good day, spent 8.5 hours in the stand not one deer sighted. It goes back to plowing under the clover field a few weeks ago. Totally changed my property. One more hunt tomorrow morning it will be cold and maybe some snow!
  20. Nice morning wish it was a bit colder but this will do! Gl
  21. Headed out in a bit. Will be at the bear den stand all day o until the rain comes. No wind 45 out, they should be moving all day!
