Warmer temps above 45 degrees will keep the deer movement to a minimal. Early morning late evening best bet. There is still so much food available for them in the woods they really don't have to move until darkness and cooler temps. I feel if you can find an area in the woods with a lot of acorns or apples it might be a good place to set up. looks like Sunday of next week will have the temps cooling off.

Just picked up my kids at the x's house. Her boyfriend told me one of his workers was testing out a new stand in the backyard. (This is on Long Island) He wasn't strapped in and fell 20 feet. Broke his back and shoulder. Be careful guys!

Schuyler county off of rt 79 near Watkins Glen. There is government property that holds big deer, pretty big track of land you could get lost. Try that.

Dude take off the watch! -
Crows......When Sandy hit last year all you heard day in and day out were generators. I got up to camp and thought opening morning would be so peaceful and quite in the woods, nope! The camp down the road didn't turn off their generator until early afternoon, thought I was going to be sick.....lol

Got my 2013 Bowhunter Sighting Log in today's mail
First-light replied to fasteddie's topic in Bow Hunting
I have them also Eddie. Been doing it for a long time and enjoy it. Kind of keeps my memory sharp!! lol Belo, The DEC ask a certain amount of Bowhunters to do a survey each time they go out in the field. How many doe, Buck, Turkey and other animals you see. You fill in the survey at the end of each day in the field and mail it back at the end of bow season. You get a patch after 5 years. -

As I get older the "thrill of the kill" is starting to fade. I have never liked walking up to an animal struggling for its last breath, looking it in the eye, knowing you caused its demise. The high 5's don't bother me, whatever floats your boat. I actually like a solitary moment with the animal, give thanks, and know that it will feed many people. Some people don't understand how I can kill a deer but on the other hand love them so much. That is the piece these people will never ever be able to comprehend, that's why I call myself a Hunter. -

Your right Steve my bad. BTW you guys realize that you have put the toilet paper in the toilet and flush???? Can't teach an old dog a new trick. I just might hire those White Trash folk next year. Oh yea your deer hunt weekend is December 21st and 22nd. Love it or leave it!

Don't worry Elmer those guys will end up eating all that stuff before "first light"! Look at'em 2 brains = 0 lol.

Disagree With limited time to hunt l don't want mandates on what I can shoot. With that said hunters at my camp get to shoot a small buck if it's their first. That goes for gun and bow. If your a seasoned hunter I ask that you pass on the small ones unless it is your last hunt for the year and you have 0 venison.

Nice deer good luck.

Take advantage of lunch time for the walks. I run every morning but also go for a 2-3 mile walk at lunch. Good luck you should be able to do it!!

6 ladder stands and a Moultrie camera stolen
First-light replied to nybuckboy's topic in General Chit Chat
Anybody owe you (or think they owe you) a payback? They hit you where it hurts. All 6 along a cornfield edge. Were they that close together for them to be able to find them and pull this off without getting caught. Think back and ask around someone knows something. -
He has a sad face??? Looks like a 3.5 in that first picture.
-
The more I look at it there seems to be some funky stuff on top of his head. I should of brought the original file home with me. This is a iPhone pict from the computer.
-
Thanks! Does he have something going on above his eyes on both sides? Might just be the way his hair lays in those spots.

1187 scoped out.
