Three deer between two families. I have about 10lbs of meat, last about another month-just perfect!

some good pics from the last few weeks

Nice deer good luck! -
Had a buck challenge me. Actually he was with a doe and probably thought I was after his doe. Held the bow up and screamed at him. He probably got within 10 feet of me. Place stunk of rut so I probably interrupted their love scene. Scared the hell out of me.

Wow- right behind my field is a steep bank (no creek) we have stands along the edge of the field.

I was just looking at the pictures again and that field looks just like the one behind my cabin. I say that because the way it cuts in and the location of your camera. I put mine in the same general area on my field and got great picts. That spot will be hunted early October for sure!

How trail cams help Deer management.
First-light replied to First-light's topic in Trail Camera Reviews and Info
I don't have restrictions either. What you just said will happen this year for sure. -
Nice deer Buck! Don't you just love when they pose. We should all strap a camera on the bottom of the trees we hunt out of. lol

Just a thought here. This is the first year we really put out multiple cameras on the property. With that said, years past you would see the occasional buck in the fields around the property but never really got to know the actual deer that are in your woods until deer season. During season you may be tempted to take a decent buck (6pt) not knowing bigger ones were around. Now with the cameras out you know exactly what deer have been around, knowing that you have some quality bucks caught on the cams may sway you into letting a smaller buck walk. We all know the big ones disappear at season opener(lol) but it gives me pause to think how the cams may help deer management on your property. I know it will be happening on my property this year. Anyone who hunts will get a look at the pictures before they go out. More thoughts on this???

Talk About Butt Covering
First-light replied to Early's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
It's offensive, has nothing to do with hunting and if I was a first timer on this site and came across this thread it may turn me off. If you guys don't lock it maybe John will? -
Talk About Butt Covering

Early, Talking about putting your foot in your mouth. This thread should be locked and done with, unbelievable. -
Off with your head you beast!

My Father-in-law swore by the turkey decoy and sound. I guess the only thing i have used is my own vocals. I can make some decent bawls and grunts and have called in many deer. Sometimes I just leave the grunt tube at home.

I have to agree with Grouse on this. Just seems a bit over the top for cops to shoot that many rounds. The guy was hit and going down. It's a tough job and i wouldn't want to do it, I give the a lot of credit. I spend 5 days a week in the city for the last 20 years, the police force is not what it used to be. I'll leave it at that..............

I always loved the outdoors. I can remember reading Outdoorlife and Field and Stream and seeing the ads sleep under the stars and catch your breakfast from a stream, become a forest ranger. I was 10 at the time. My brother was the first to take me hunting and it took off from there. The excitement of your first hunt the sleepless nights can't be matched. Smell the woods on 30 degree windless day. Hear the sound of deer before you see them all these things keep me coming back. When you hunt there are three things involved, yourself, nature and the deer. It's an awesome challenge that I always look forward to. People say in the Fall things start dying around them. I think just the opposite, it's where life begins. The Fall lights my inner sole and let's me get in touch with what's important in life. All this happens on the deer stand and I would rather be no other place. As we move on in life priorities change and shooting that big buck isn't so important. Just being out there and hopefully passing on traditions to the younger generation. My best trophy wasn't that PY deer I shot but was the smile on a 14 year old boys face after he shot a button buck on his 1st bow hunt. I mentored him and will never forget the experience.....................

If you watch the video do you see something odd in there? Take a good look, it's not about the shooter or police, it's about a reaction of a certain person.
