Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
First-light replied to Doc's topic in General Chit Chat
I've stayed away from that section for a long time. Don't care to go there. -
I've done a few with the powerwasher. Did you boil first to soften it up, I did . Yes the bucket methos does have a stink but not too bad. I feel its the easiest way to go about doing it.

My neighbor did it last year I did it this year. 5 gal bucket and an aquarium heater. Skin the head and put it in took me 12 days to have a perfect euro. Dry then bleach1

Happy Birthday!

I couldn't no way. Brutal winters and short summers. Not for me.

Doc have to be honest did not read it all. Just like your post how smart are they. It all depends on the deer. My brother smokes in the deer stand he has killed so many bucks with a smoke in his mouth. This year I left my gear in the house most of the time. Never got busted except for that old Doe that saw me. I like to take a shower before I go out especially in the am. Other than that I'm sure deer do smell us but it's the old wise ones that pay attention. But then again there is always the rut! lol

Milkweed the best!

Guys were out this week. Got a yote on camera in the am they came through in pm. Guess the dog still had scent??
-
Still holding by me but I bet the cold snap made some shed.
-
Funny I walked out onto mine this morning and made a big popping noise.
-
Screwed or nailed? Most likely screwed and the cold is doing that. Job for the inspector for sure. Make sure it's secured into the plate on the wall and not just sheathing.
-
Bunch of pictures of bucks still holding headgear. It won't be long in fact maybe this week with the temps low. We call this spot the 4 corners. Two real well used runs come though here. Now that camera is not more than 50 yards off off a road intersection, hence the 4 corners. I think he is a big 8.

I'm doing some remolding in the house. Once we get past this cold snap I'll probably cut some dead ash and split it.
-
Doc I get what all you said but don't you think we change as hunters as we get older? I know I have. We lay down give back and ease off the trigger. Time flys by us and new ways to hunt or attract deer come about and we as the elders not frown upon it but just don't get it. It's the young generation that will never get what we had. I would take that any day of the week. Cold tent warm fire some grub and do it all over again to harvest a whitetail!
-
Important that you got to hunt with your son! My Neighbor next door has family in Maryland and you are allowed to bait and shoot a ton of deer. I always get invited but never go. Just not my thing.
-
The whole bait thing would not sit right with me. Just like hunting with dogs if you grew up doing it, it's your way. I just can't see pulling the trigger on a deer munching on a pile of corn. This debate could go on and on JMO.

Doc thinks its a ligament/muscle issue. On some anti inflammatories for a week. Rest and needs to lose 10 lbs! Don't we all! Thanks everyone.

Back legs. Thing is this morning she acted fine. Got up stretched, ran outside came back in all happy. Still need a vet check I think?
-
Yes Eric! YouTube channel is great. They only work on local vehicles. Very lucky to have found him!

Bailey my 2.5 year old Curr has been favoring her left leg for a week. I bought supplements and been giving them to her. She has a hard time standing up after laying down for a while. Today I took them for a walk for about an hour she was absolutely fine. We get back to the house and she is now favoring both back legs, won't lay in her bed and pretty much wont move. That is not to say if I take them out she won't get up and pee. She is a big dog with long legs. Eat and sleeps well. Thoughts? I'm thinking making a vet appointment?
-
So I was recommended to Main Street Auto in Avoca. What a nice place and friendly service. Dropped car off day before appointment and they had it done same day. Turned out a wire harness had a bad wire in it. It was to the solenoid to the Evap system. $160 bucks and I'm a happy man. They get my service in the future, great place and people.

In all my years I only saw one at the ol H and E grill in Burdett NY. Nice big 8 pt but was missing parts! lol
-
Not on the other site. Unless a name change.
-
Look at that spike!

Cheapest venison I ever paid for was on a camping/hunting trip on State land in the Catskills. Eat, sleep and hunt. Drag your deer out if you are lucky! Can't put a price on those memories.
