I have a grunt tube but most of the time I vocalize the grunt myself. Have called in many bucks this way. Bigger the buck deeper and louder the grunt. Small bucks are so curious a normal sounding bleat will bring them in on a string.

Wow, same thing happened to my Bro last year. We never found blood, hair or the deer. He heard the wack and the deer blowing while running away. To this day he still thinks he hit it, good luck.

Used to do my own. I use a place up by me. Costs 55 bucks and never had a problem with the meat or amount coming back. I have to say I did enjoy when I had the time butchering the Deer myself.

The original post has the guy bringing it in the woods. To me that doesn't fly. You come out at lunch and have one or two fine but thats it.

Good topic, strong opinions-I like it. I have three food plots on my property. They were planted to draw deer into a certain area to shoot. After three years now not one deer has been shot at these plots. I am learning that in my area there is so much food (corn,beans,alfalfa) that is isn't worth the time, effort and money to plant these plots.

If it is very windy the deer want to get to their bedding area in a hurry. Keep alert at all times on the stand, you won't hear them only see them. If it's pouring, well good luck.

I don't see just a couple is OK in the woods when your holding a gun. I know it happens and yes there are responsible drinkers out there but not when you have a loaded weapon. Responsible drinkers don't drink and drive, they wait a couple of hours until the alcohol is out of your system, can't do that while hunting can you?

This weekend the weather is going to be bad, why not use it to your advantage. Tell your sweetie that your not hunting this weekend and you'll do some things together. You've waited this long what's another weekend especially with the forecast that is predicted? This way when she finds out that a couple of husbands are going to her best friends bridal shower the first weekend in November you pull out your card.......just sayen.

The journals have started, always a good sign! We are all set to go up for a three day weekend second week of the season. I will be up every other weekend. We have not seen any big ones yet, we have our usual bears around. Looking forward to all the journal posts! Good luck and be safe! Burt
