Blur, Yes I know a second shot was needed to dispatch the deer. If you wanted to save all the meat the head was the perfect place. But to video tape it in such a disrespectful manor is outrageous. I for one would not be associated with these individuals. The game I choose to hunt gets respect living and when dead, these jerks deserve no respect.

They would love that on antique road trips! Brings in big money for all that documentation! Great mount!

If you want me to agree to AR's I won't. If you want me to agree to a longer bow season (Oct 1st ) OK. If you want me to agree to let xbows into the deer seasons OK. 1st two weeks of bow (Oct1-15) and all of gun season and Muzzleloader season. If you want me to agree to shorten the gun season OK. 3 week season followed by two weeks of Muzzleloader and xbow. I feel the seasons are just about right, but there needs to be some type of give and take with the xbow. Giving the bow hunters and extra 2 weeks and letting in xbows for the 1st two weeks would do it for me. The biggest problem I see is losing the week for the gun hunters. For me it's not a big deal, break out the smokepole. I don't think this will lesson the stress on the deer, the last two weeks of season may be real nice way to end the year.

How's the coffee this morning gentlemen?

Gave up my boat for the cabin and property. It was a good choice, I think yours is too.

My Father-in-law insists that there was a great big buck up by Indian lake that they nicknamed Wooly. It was a long time ago but he said that buck could give you the slip, here today gone tomorrow. His best story was when Wooly jumped clear over the hood of the truck they were driving into hunting camp. Half the guys didn't want to get out to hunt! You are a legend!
-
Wooly is the grand master of the shed antler. He finds them in spots that you never think to look! Some say he was a great 12 point of the northern woods years ago, legend has it! Just look at his birthday cake, he is hiding in the brush while the small bucks get taken. Don't you think his sister knows something?

An interesting thing happened to me today!!

Paulie, Give me a call and we'll do a tag team on her. Burt -
My 6 year old was sitting on my lap at the computer and said Daddy let's watch some deer hunting videos. I did a search on You Tube and this video came up. I did not let her watch what these two idiots were about to film. This is why we get a bad name out there. I know some of you will say, well they had to put the deer down. But to video tape it in such a barbaric way. This goes too far as I'm concerned, if you want to associate with this video go ahead but you won't be welcomed in my deer camp, period.

It sure does, that's no lie. I also would like to point out that our group "Hunting NY" probably has the safest bunch of gun owners around. I say this because we have a passion about guns and hunting. They go hand and hand. Unfortunately we get associated with the careless individuals that give gun owners a bad name. I respect the individuals on this board that need to have a gun accessible to them in there home, I do not. Muzzyloader my thoughts are with you, I'm sure this is a difficult subject. -

I am not sure of the numbers but I would be willing to bet the number of cases of armed home invasion that either result in rape...murder...or robbery...are more than accidental shootings involving children with unsecured firearms....wht are the odds?...not sure but I know where my money is going. I am sad that any child had their life ended...and I know I will take the heat for this but it needs to be said. I don't care about this kid....or the child that shot them...or really any of your kids ....I AM concerned with mine. and if anyone comes into my house with bad intentions I will not be looking for a gun and rounds. I understand what your saying, look at the home invasion in Connecticut, it sums it up. I'm sure you do care about other children. Do you let the parents of children coming to your house know that there is a loaded unlocked gun in the house? -

I agree with you, Good points, VJP. To bluntly put it, what are the odds of you getting to your loaded gun to use it to defend yourself? What are the odds of someone breaking into your house in a case you would need the gun? What are the odds that two unsupervised children find your unsecured loaded weapon in your home? For me it's a game I don't want to play. -
Just my opinion, but once years ago I had fat added to the chop meat and it changed the taste. I will never have anything added to the meat, it tastes and cooks just fine.

Yeah Burt, I seen 'em. I'll get him tonight. Spaghetti on cake?? ??? I'm a pollock but I aint that Polish. Funny, just for decorations I mean. I'm half polish, we good hunters!
-
Happy birthday Wooly, did you see the big one in the brush? Is that spaghetti on top?

To have a loaded gun in the house not locked up is simply irresponsible, especially when children are present. All the training in the world won't help these situations, kids are curious creatures. -
It's nice in the burbs but in the City this much snow is not good. I'm off all week and don't have to travel in the City. Tthe snow turns so gross and dirty in a couple of days.

Cedarhurst paper still here!

Yea, about a foot by me in East Northport maybe more. I'm off all week so Let it snow let it snow let it snow.

AR's in Mississippi

Would not like AR's here in NY -
Good point Bubba. We have picts of real nice bucks on our trail cam every year that nobody harvests. It makes you wonder where all these monsters roam. They are there and I for one don't think AR is the answer. We need to do a bit more hard hunting and stop depending on technology giving us the edge. I laugh all the time at the crap all these companies put out, "the buck bomb" give me a break! You here of one guy scoring with the product and it goes viral. Let's just get back to the basics and forget about all the crap they shove down our throats. It really makes me wonder where this all is going.

I don't have the numbers but what type of role does the out-of-state hunter play into the NY season. What I mean is how many OOS hunters come to NY to hunt? I've posted this before but my neighbor has 11 relatives that come from down south, I know from asking them about half would jump ship if AR's were put in place. Lost revenue and less guys in the woods pushing deer but until I know the numbers I don't have an accurate # of OOS hunters. By the wat these guys are only in the first two weeks of season at best. So a shorter season would not affect them. I think the season is pretty good the way it is but I'm always willing to hear an argument and if need be implement change.
