  1. nope and I gave the going rate.
  2. So you guys know I leased 70 acres across the road from me. We are in it to buy when the time is right. The guys we took it from were from the next town over. We really never cared for them, nor did the neighbors. Shooting after dark, alcohol in the woods and on. It has all been going fine until today. Hopefully this was a one time thing but I hear a car way down the road horn blaring. He just drives all the way to the end of lease baring the horn. Then drives off. I recognized the car and knew it was them. I was in a stand where I could see the road. I'm sure it was the youngster of the bunch and he got it out of his system. I have their old posted sign name and address. Partners in my lease are a NYS Trooper Detective and a Suffolk County Detective. If it keeps up they will get a visit! I get that they must be upset they lost the lease but they were paying 1k for 70 acres. Got to stay with the times and offer the going rate or owner will take other offers. Didn't see anything today think it was the horn??? lol
  3. I know we have talked about pan frying it. Can someone give me some tips on the best way to cook it?
  4. First scrapes of the year 8P. I'll be out tonight a bit windy but it's a killing night!
  5. I'm in 8P Steuben county, no moose here.
  6. So I got everytrhing done today looked at the clock and it was 4:20. Threw on the hunting clothes and went to the closest stand on the new lease. It borders a clover field. Right across from my house. It wasn't raining so I went. Got in and had 12 Turkey come by 2 were Toms. Rain picked up and I had a Big Doe and two fawns come but would not commit to going to the field and turned around. Not 10 minutes later right behind me at 15 yards another big doe and fawn. I grab my bow and pull up she is a bit spooked and jumps a few feet but is broadside. I put the 10 yard pin on her and let loose. Sounded like I hit her she bounded off and stoped. Hoping she would go down I watched as she tratted away with the fawn but tail was between her legs. Because of the rain I got down right away and looked for the arrow. I found it and it was a clean miss. While looking for the arrow I said to myself man if I hit her the blood would mix with all this rain on the leaves and it would be hard tracking. I'll take a clean miss.
  7. And you farted making that noise. Knew it was you!
  8. BB are great tasting. We try not to shoot them or young Does. If I get the chance I will take a Doe early season with bow. When the rut heats up I won't bother shooting Does until later gun season.
  9. I'm in my stand last night. It's about 5:30 and I hear branches breaking in the old pine stand. This is a huge piece of woods that was planted years ago. The pine trees are huge. The bottom of the pines are all dead branches. For about three minutes a animal walked through breaking every branch it came in contact with. It was making so much noise I just couldn't believe it. As it got close to me it veered to the left where the pines end. There was some deep vocalization at one point sounded like a drawn out Whaaaaaaaaao. Not human I'm sure. Deer or Bear what do you think? We have plenty of Bear up here FYI. Thanks, FL
  10. I saw a buck and a huge bear. He came through the pines like a bull moose. So much noise. He stoped 40 yards from me and headed to the corn.
  11. saw six Doe tonight from this beautiful stand on new lease.
  12. That's a tough one to swallow. Too bad shit happens.
  13. Just shows you they breed early and late in the wild. Not much but it happens.
  14. No idea why the pictures posted like that. You get it
  15. Today was my buddies Birthday. He was up here all week with his wife and son. Last hunt this morning. I got up and noticed the frost on the ground and said its a killing day. He comes trhrough shooting this really nice doe. 2 year old son totally into it!
  16. From 3:30 till dark I counted 15 doe around me. I pulled up on one that was close. She immediately looked up and ran off. Always tomorrow.
  17. Saw a couple of Doe last night then about 5:00 a bear walks in. Not the one with Mange. This was I guess 2 -3 year old about 200 lbs. Real good looking bear. He wondered around at 50 yards and never came closer. He drifted off after 5 minutes. Hope to get a shot at him. Just real good looking and I'm guessing being young the meat would be more tender?
  18. I guess you lower that thing from the stand loaded, cocked?
