Weather looks much better and Steve will make the weekend. So 6 hunters for us. All set!

My brother is here at my house for a couple of weeks. I can let it lay and track it later in the day or have him look for it. Calling in sick is an option but I love my co workers too much to pick up my slack. It is an option though! lol

My Nephew and his buddy put up a ground blind by a food plot. My Brother in law loves them so I gave it a try. Just didn't work for me. I could stand up but really not stretch like I like too. Felt too confined. When the time comes when I can't go up a tree I think I would rather hunt out of a stand I build 4 feet off the ground.

Up again today ay 4 am. No work today. I work PT at the elementary school in Bath. 9:45 - 1:30. Can get me two hours in the stand and enough time to get to work in the am. Going to be cold tomorrow morning 25 degrees may do one last morning hunt tomorrow. Rest of the week the afternoon.

It opened up this morning. Had a few nice big bucks on cam and I saw 2 shooters today. Had all I could do to not take a big doe. They were under me at 10 yards. 3 big does and 3 yearlings. Shooter buck was close so I held back. Next few days should be good!

I was once told when a man walks into the timber he carries much more weight then he does walking out. As a boy I never got it I figured the goal was to be packing the weight of a harvest. But as I got older it all made perfect sense. While your sitting there 15 feet up a tree you have no choice but to think about the things weighing on your mind. You come to terms with all the rights and wrongs, you make light of the dark times and pray for the good. What I owe to the woods I could never repay. Its where I have become who I am, its made me appreciate life and its beauty, and most of all its kept me going....

So today I had my fist chase go by. Small buck chasing then a decent 8 pt came by. This afternoon had another 8 pt cruising and managed to turn him and come in 20 yards. Still no big bucks seen. We had that huge buck taken Thursday but that was just walking in the woods feeding.

Had chase this morning. Small buck then 20 minutes later on same trail a nice 8pt. Had a decent buck come by tonight. Out 70 yards or so and I called him into 20. Passed. Thery are starting to show. Game plan for tomorrow is stay in stand until rain starts around 1 pm.

Same here. I'm up at 4 am today to bow hunt this beautiful morning. Last year was a different story and I wasn't sleeping well (sleep apnea). I hardly went in the am. Now that I'm sleeping much better I'm better at getting up, but still at 61 its hard.

We have a farm at the beginning of my road. The houses and land are rented to out-of-state hunters. Really nice people that come and go. As I was leaving for work yesterday I noticed a pickup driving along the cut corn, tailgate down and this monster inside. I stopped thinking they would come up the road but they were actually going to gut it in the hedgerow. I left but stopped in on my way home. First off they are such a nice family of hunters and get the job done. The wife shot this in the evening and they backed out. High double lung shot. Found it in the morning just by the way the leaves were scuffed up. It bedded next to a big log. No ground shrinkage here. 13 points non typical. Deer has everything you want! I was so happy for them. They were packing up to move onto a new lease and meeting up with family for thanksgiving. He gave me a half hour to talk about the deer. Congrats to them. I must say that is the biggest I have seen in my area.

Brother got this nice 8 pt tonight. Chasing a doe. We have him on camera the night before doing the same thing. 30 yards xbow. Pass through shoulder. He said it did a back flip before it died. Crazy.

I'm in 8P also same here. Hope this weekend it changes.

Once again nothing tonight. All cams just showing small bucks. Big boys are locked down with Does. Has to be.

In the last week I only have small bucks on cams. Had a buck bedded with a doe the other morning. It's a weird rut cycle this year. Lunar cycle splits the rut. They are locked down until another week or so and it will happen again at Thanksgiving.

Hunted last night nothing, cameras just have a few small bucks. I'm in a bad funk and I don't like the weather except for opening weekend the next 10 days.

Real slow around here. Hope change in temps gets them going. FYI I read an article about this 16 year moon phase that splits the rut. 1st rut last week of October. 2nd rut week before Thanksgiving. I can tell you this. That third week in October there were 6 different bucks hit by cars between Howard and Bath. 10 minute ride. Since then nothing. I'm real interested how it plays out this year.

Sick of this warm weather. On my jog this morning I had a doe and buck bedded together in goldenrod. Doe jumped up first and ran he followed right behind. Instead of going 30 yard and into the woods they crossed the goldenrod over the road and into a cut corn field. Stupid is as stupid does. Nothing tonight.

Yeah I'm ready. We lost one oldtimer this year which will put a damper on things. 88 years still going strong and had an accident in his barn. Doing something he shouldnt of be doing. My buddy Steve is a detective and is on a huge case, he can't make it. My camp usually has 6 hunters we will have 5. We will have a 14 year old up here hunting with his grandfather! Weather looks real sketchy next week. Stands are set everyone knows where they are going.

You guys were close. 20" inside 152#. My point is I thought it was much bigger from the photo. Maybe its just me but I always think photos make the deer and rack bigger. Just me I guess.
