  1. I'm jealous brother! I had to get back to work but already looking forward to Friday. Good luck today and keep the photos coming! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
  2. Sitting in my stand this am on the snowy intersection of three dirt roads on my property. Red truck comes slowly driving through. Must have seen me because as I start down the ladder he takes off fast making a racket. That was the end of that. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
  3. I'm far from an expert but I've always been told when it gets very windy the deer bed down mostly because they can't smell or hear. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
  4. Me too! Saw one today. Drove 100 acres with 5 guys and nothing. In contrast, i can't believe what I see visiting my parents on eastern long island. I counted 24 deer in a field next door. The neighborhood hates them but the 500 ft to dwelling law means nobody can do much about them. Now they're taking about the County somehow sterilizing them. Geez. Better idea. Round them all up and release them in 5H!Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
  5. Bushwacking through part of my land I've not yet been on, I stumbled on a mature doe. Too late, not only did she run, she ran near the property line. I pushed a bit further in but lost the tracks. Was getting dark so I turned back. Thank god for gps on my cell phone. The 20 minute hike back to the main trail should have been no problem but the snow got heavy and the wind whipped up. My battery at 4% I was nearly jogging through the brambles and across the bogs. Last time I got lost without gps (daytime) it took an hour to get out. Thank God I just made it to a familiar trail or I'd be in the woods tonight. There's a thousand acres here. Yikes. 6. A bit of Lake effect snow in 5h tapered off now making for better visibility and lines of sight. So many rubs and scrapes, fresh track, but no actual sightings. Where is everybody! ? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
  7. Moved my stand to a tree 40yrd down trail. Much better view of approaches and Valley. That warmed me back up! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
  8. No matter how warm I dress, I eventually get cold and want to make the 20 minute walk back to the cabin for hot coffee lol. Still hunting or walking.. Why does the grass always seem greener by the stand I'm not? ;-) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
  9. Woods silent at 7am. After weeks of fresh tracks, nothing this weekend. Only a couple doe on cam. 170 acres and 3 buck spotted. Neighbor took the 6 pointer. Now i wonder if I've somehow pressured them deeper into the forest. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
  10. Seen bobcat tracks in the fresh mud by my creek, but never chanced upon the cat itself. Heard they're real shy, and if you see one, you're lucky indeed. Beautiful animal indeed.
  11. Scrapes everywhere around the stand. Awesome! Hope the bucks aren't shy this weekend. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
  12. Looking forward to heading to the camp this Thursday night!

  13. Looking forward to heading to the camp this Thursday night!

  14. Found a fresh scrape just behind my camp in 6J last weekend. Mocked another two with wicks and put a blind 40 yds with clear shot to all three. Haven't seen the buck yet but I saw his 3 girlfriends hanging around waiting. Can't wait to head up next weekend!
  15. Hey everyone! I'm at work during the week here on Long Island, but I try to spend weekends up at a camp I just bought in central Herkimer county. I'm lucky to have 35 acres of woods along a creek with many deer trails. I'm surrounded by around five hundred acres of forests. Although I'm anticipating using my 30/30 Lever, I'm wondering if my Remington 870 express would be as good a choice. I'm very excited that this will be my first season hunting. All my neighbors or rooting for me to take my first "wall hanger" so the new cabin will be properly baptized! Glad to join the community here. Cheers, Doc
