6 birds have been taken since we have owned it. 5 were after 9am. Crops rotate on neighbors huge ag fields and then same with our 25acres we lease to farmer. This year our 25acres is hay. Big neighbors field is wheat this year. They rotate corn, soy beans, alfalfa, wheat, and oats. I am reclaiming a small overgrown 4 acre field on our parcel this summer maybe that new growth will help.

Maybe your right Dom and jerkman. My kids drive me to drink sometimes too.

I agree with the changing of coats, but this guy was acting goofy too. Saw him at about 70 yards and he kept running 20 yards stopping looking around then another 20 etc. Most fox that see me high tail it and find cover, not run in a wide open field like its drunk.

Whats a good age in everyone's opinion to start kids with a firearm? I know I won't with my kids until they have the cognitive capacity to know the dangers and listen appropriately. My kids are both under 4 so I have a bit of time...

Was turkey hunting Monday and saw the nastiest looking fox. By the color and missing fur at first I thought it was a small yote. My friend trapped a mangey fox this year on the property and burried him. Seems its spread to a few animals in my parts however. Side story- 3 years ago my neighbor had a mangey fox come into his garage in daylight. HE went to get his 45 as this thing was walking funny and not right. By the time he came back into the garage it was gone. 1 month later his yellow lab was sick and missing hair. The dog got the mange. Vet said only one hair follicle can transmit the disease. Anyone else seeing the mange around? Anyones pets ever got it?

Looking for some ideas to better help my property to hold turkey. I would love to hear land managment ideas specifically targeted at turkey. Anyone have any experience or ideas for me please share. One thing I know the property lacks are full mature stands of timber for roosting. The previous owner logged the property like it was his job. Thats something that will take lots of time. I did plant 450 trees this year and for the last 5 or 6 years I have planted pines. I did get some oak trees this year as well as pines. Food plots I typically do for deer. I have found two things I planted for deer they liked were oats and winter wheat. Water is pretty plentiful on 2/3 of property with a nice creek and one small cattle pond. Back of property does lack h2o and that's typically where I encounter the birds. Working with about 100 acres. 40% field 60% woods.

So I havent missed yet, but along with what pygmy says I've only shot 3 birds. I love deer hunting, but turkey is definatley a challenge for me. I think im about 8 seasons in with turkey and learn something new every year. I'd like to think I'm a decent deer hunter, but as a turkey hunter I still have much to learn. Not for nothing , but a miss will teach you things a hit never did.

Everyone is different and 7 pins are fine for some. I find its too confusing when its go time and the adrenaline is maxed out. What about a single pin adjustable sight? Those would shoot out to 80 for you. Just another option.
-
My only opinion is 7 pins is allot of pins. How far out do you plan to shoot? I run 3 pins 20,30,50

Great report I'm sure she had fun still. I got a laugh- reminds me of a time before opening day a couple years back. A buddy totally smashed his glasses the night before. They were unfixable and he was blind without them. He dug in his truck and found his amber wrap around sunglasses for his motorcycle. The bug looking ones that have an elastic strap and no frames. He looked ridiculous and he still missed a nice buck on the opener.

Ya wooly I typically make a run like this twice a week. The worse part is the judgement people pass as I wheel cart after cart in.

Was on the fence about getting out for youth as my little cousin who I took last year couldn't get out this weekend. Now I will be tagging along with a good friend and his grandson. This will be his second youth season. Not a ton of turkey sign by me in 9h, but also have a close property in 8g we can hunt if nothing is going on. I haven't scouted the 8g property yet this year. Good luck all!

I have had the Nikon archers choice for about 6 years. Although no problems, I don't think I would get another. Its limited to 99 yards accurately and although I only use it during bow, sometimes its just nice to be able to know long distances. It does have a weird battery, however I have yet to change it. I think the angle compensation is minimal unless your shooting at extreme angles. -

Lol stock up now. Whats the shelf life? -
I almost bought the mango one, but the abv was only like 3.8%. I like mine a bit more... just picked up a sixer of the watermelon dorado. First time I've seen that one at wegmans.
