PA ELK: This $10.70 application is for the random drawing (to be held in September on a date yet to be determined) to purchase one of 65 licenses (19 antlered, 46 antlerless) for the November 5-10, 2012 season. Nonresidents have an equal opportunity in the drawing. If drawn, a Pennsylvania resident may purchase an elk license for $25; nonresidents $250.

YES Pa. has an elk season but it's a very small # of tags given out each year
-
From the Site: The elk we hunt are typical northwest Colorado elk consisting mostly of 4- to 6-point bulls (legal bulls are 4 or more points on one side) scoring up to around 320-330" on the top end. Our elk aren't huge but the sheer numbers are staggering. Rifle elk hunting at Nine Mile is fabulous! It's not uncommon for some of our hunters to actually see elk in the hundreds here during the rifle season. Rifle hunters also experience nearly 100% shot opportunity.

they probably bring you to a ridge line, and you pick ya shot from the herd 10% of people miss sounds like fun

I don't think it is legal in NYS to QUAD in on public land (unless you are handicapped) however there are other areas that you can (drive in and camp) some in the southern regions of NYS or if you want a real wilderness experience (moose river plains, 50,000 acres) you can drive into a site in MRP, I did it a few years back didnt see any deer as is common in ADK region ( if you PM me i can reccomend other areas in the Southern Tier) where you can drive in as well (truck not quad). as for way backwoods my wife's uncle used to canoe into areas and when they had a wall tent the would (hide/store) it in a 50 gal steel drum and then hunt there same areas year after year, they even humped a cast iron wood stove into the woods and they hunted those same areas for 15 or so years, again this becomes as much of an adventure than it does a hunting trip. PM me and i can fill you in on areas that you can drive in (truck) camp, hopefully see deer, and not be 4 hrs away from medical attention if need be.

Do they all guarantee a buck?
-
your only other option would be come down the last week of Jan. and try for standby, even if you don't get a deer it's nice to walk ALOT and learn the property for next year
-
if biz pays $500 then will you PROMISE him a shot at a buck. lol last year there were bucks dropping antler by early Dec. lots of bucks in Jan. have shed.
-
Randy Jones I fished with in Cape Cod, never hired him... Salmon river I fished with a buddy for chromes, not salmon that you can snag since there are so many. Most likely if you hunted with the Guide out east you would be put on Standby, unless he reserves everyday possible under other peoples License Numbers. Long Island Buck to Doe ratios are around 1/3 not that difficult to find bucks, during bow the respond well to grunts, rattles ect.. however during the Shotgun season its a bit different, you need to move around after a few days they get super skittish. all kidding a side if you want a chance at Nice bucks, talking 130"-160" deer hunt during bow.

Nice Jimmy, i managed to get the first Friday 1/11 @ Rocky Pt.
-
sorry bud ya missed the deadline for shotgun... maybe next year... I will make it even easier for you, since it seems that's what you want... send me $300 and i will shoot and put the dead buck in your truck for ya
-
no problem... it costs 45 cents to apply, you use "YOUR TAGS" i will drive you the 1 mile from the check station to the property and pick you up and return you before dark.. and yes you are correct you have been on many more "guided hunts" as i have never used a guide, If i hand someone cash and they show me where to stand to get a shot at a buck i rather not go... like to do things for myself
-
sucker born every day i guess
-
seriously? someone can pay me $150 i will give them a ride... lol i guess that's what they call a non-guided trip
-
Otis Pike is a skip from riverhead
-
will be headed out tomorrow....
-
wow monster... suprised it's neck is so thin
-
for rocky point alone there are Approx 50 spots in rocky point and 50 spots in Otis pike, so thats a total of lets say 100 spots, there are 19 days to the shotgun season... so that it potentially 1,900 total hunting spots available for the season on those 2 lands having number 1563 and thinking you will be hunting the 3rd day of the season is very wishful thinking (not saying impossible) I have number 333 and hope i can find an available day by Jan 11th Standby is you show up and "hope" someone else doesn't show if there are spots left over you "may" get a chance to go out yes you can bring someone with you, you need to register that person (call them for instructions) in order to be let out in numerical order, if he/she is not registered you are let out last. If you hunt under a friends # you have to forfeit your #, you cannot hunt as a guest with your buddy one day and then your buddy be your guest the next, unless you are hunting standby.
