  1. I also have a tow behind swisher rough cut.  It does a great job!!! I usually cut my 3 acre field in a little over an hour and makes light work of cleared trails.   Definitely worth the investment if you have more than an acre to take care of.  On a side note, there is no way that it will cut 3 inch saplings.  It struggles and bogs down if I try to cut corn down at the end of the season.  Also, trails and fields need to be cleared of any rocks that could hit the blade.  I have owned mine for close to ten years and have just changed the blade and belt. They are very durable!!

So Cooperstown decided to really change their guidelines for this summer. Rumor was it was going to only allow NY teams and barricks were off the table fine by me. 2 days ago they announced any kid 12 and up must be fully vaccinated to participate as well as parents and coaches. So basically were telling them to stick their fields far far far up their u know what. NY is such a joke when it comes to covid. I can attend a 100% capacity mlb game in TX with no masks but we all have to be vaccinated. Honestly i dont know if i even want my very health 12yr old taking it once ones available. Cooperstowns a joke.

My son is going to Cooperstown “All Star Village” this year too.  I spoke to the rep for All Star village and she said she has no idea why Dreams Park changed their guidelines.  She assured me that the two sites are not affiliated and under no circumstances would they be enforcing those guidelines.  Might not be too late to rebook to All Star Village.

  3. All ideas sound good!!!  I've already done pasta and venison stew at camp this year.  We usually stop at the saloon on rt 145 for burgers on our way up.  Just looking for something different for Saturday night.

Never thought of making burgers in a crockpot... definitely sounds good!!!

  4. I know I haven’t posted here in awhile but I am always reading through various posts.  After reading the bow hunters success  thread I couldn’t stop thinking how great it is that so many of you bring other hunters to your property to hunt deer. Having my own piece of land I am well aware of how much work it takes to cut trails and put in food plots.  I could see how some might want to keep the deer for themselves.  But many of you don’t which is awesome!! This season I am bringing one of my friends up to my place so he can hopefully harvest a deer.  He hasn’t taken a deer in several years due to work and family commitments so I am hoping he will be successful!

    Thanks for the interesting posts!

Well tomorrow I depart for my Maine Moose hunting adventure!!! it's unreal!!! Can't believe I even won a cow tag, let alone was able to trade it for a bull in a great area. Can't say enough good things about OMM outfitters and I haven't even left yet. This is truly a dream come true for me. Moose has always been my dream animal. Leaving the house around 3am tomorrow, should be about a 9 hour ride. Not sure what the cell service is gonna be like up there so unfortunately you guys might have to wait a week to hear about it. Thanks for all the support and I plan on taking LOTS of pics for everybody!!!

Good luck... I can’t wait to see pictures!  I have Verizon and had cell service in camp.  Safe travels!!!

I figured it wouldn't take long for someone to take offense.  Reality is that you are hunting over bait that you planted as others might hunt over bait that they bought in a bag.  As Uncle Nicky said, its all about "keeping wildlife in the area" with the idea that it might help your hunting.  If one wasn't a hunter they wouldn't be planting plots OR buying bags of corn, so what is the difference?

Honestly, no offense taken.  Just trying to point out that a bag of corn will feed a deer for a few days.  Food plots fill feed deer all season and through the harsh winter.

I like the way you put that.  Some guys who put out food plots can have a coronary when baiting is brought up, yet there is very little (if any) difference between the two.

Now let's see how long it will take for someone to try to justify food plots by saying that they don't spread CWD like baiting does?

Slightly different than a bag of corn.

if I keep this cow tag than im pretty sure id be staying at the eagle lake camp. the pics of it look amazing!!!

Yeah... cabins are right on the lake.  You will park your truck and they pick you up on a pontoon boat and bring you into camp.  The food is amazing... lobsters, Delmonico steaks, and my favorite was the moose stew!  Nate is very knowledgeable and definitely puts the work into the moose hunts.  I shot my bear early in the week and drove around with him after.  He would drop off hunters for the afternoon bear hunt and then scout till dark.

  9. That’s awesome!!! I’ve hunted with omm outfitters for black bear about three years ago!!  You will not be disappointed.  The effort he puts into his guiding is second to none.  I’m not sure if your camp will be on eagle lake but the cabins there are amazing and the food is delicious!!  Good luck!!  Can’t wait for pictures!!

Where did you get this info ??  I am a NWTF Life member, and have bought seed through their seed subsidy  for several years, but I have not received any info regarding the seed subsidy yet this year...

If you go to the NWTF website, click on the link for conservation.  Look for local seed subsidy programs.
