Where did you hunt in Maine? Just being nosey, it is my favorite place so far, on earth.  And thank you

I hunted with OMM Outfitters.  They are the only outfitter that Cabela’s recommend in the state of Maine for bear hunting.  They are about $1000 more than most outfitters there but the odds increase greatly for harvesting a bear with them.  When I was there two years ago 9 out of the 10 hunters all left with a bear.  The food was incredible and the private cabins were amazing!66B15CE0-CBEE-4C84-9577-1CB4F288B634.thumb.jpeg.c84526c5daf94a0a300dab9198fd0a72.jpeg5EB7270D-C3CC-45E4-8CFC-4EAD12CF5A90.thumb.jpeg.e89702b68621ef7b6e5d2f8c8571b4cf.jpeg82248522-272F-4FB2-974B-2BAEE3BCB41A.thumb.jpeg.c8b9cc872801fb0cfa671cbe54545302.jpegD5BF5A1A-B3D0-47BB-90C4-CE2DAB85727D.thumb.jpeg.1cb7d5286c57be93f4bffbed8fdd2f69.jpeg

  2. I was running a few errands and on my way home I saw her stuck at a sump close to my house.   I ran home to get my bolt cutters and headed back to cut the chain.  I wasn’t sure how long she was there but she seemed fine once I got her free.  1C7A9510-3931-44DC-A977-EE3377D45E71.thumb.jpeg.4458d1b118fced01905a299024954dcf.jpeg

im going to start rock picking next year, said the same thing last year lol my plots are rock infested but it really dosnt seem to have a negative impact on growth ..... other then breaking drags

Yes, definitely doesn’t effect growth but I’ve busted the shaft on my tow-behind brush hog more times than I’d like to admit.  Not crazy about picking rocks but I’m not going to turn down the free labor!!

  4. I purchased a 2017 Heritage Glenn.  It’s 30 feet with three bump outs and has a bunk house for the kids.  We purchased out of state from Ohio Rv Wholesalers and saved considerably on the price.  We probably take it on four to five trips a year and I use it all of hunting season.

  5. Yes, as far as I know Maine only has a fall season.  I hunted the opening week both times which is  the last week of August.  The guides told us that you will see more bears during the first week and less as the weeks progress, however, the bears get bigger during weeks three and four.  All depends on what you are looking for.

  6. I've been bear hunting twice, both times in Maine.  My first year I went with two buddies to Woody's Guide Service.  There were a total of twelve hunters in camp and roughly three guys went home with a bear.  We didn't see any.  A few years later we booked OMM Outfitters through Cabelas.  It was about $1000 more than the average outfitter in this area, however, out of the ten hunters, 8 of us left with bears.  This camp was excellent!!!  Each group of hunters had their own cabin with running water for showers and the food was amazing.  Lobsters, moose stew,  and smoked Delmonico steaks were a few of my favorite meals.  We fished during the day on the lake, they allow you to use their pontoon boats.  They also held a skeet competition one of the days.  Anybody that shot their bear early in the week was able to sit and hunt coyotes free of charge.  Definitely give them a look if you considering a bear hunt in this area.
