  1. Forgot to mention; New CVA wolf QRBP does not fit older wolf's. Also forgot to recommend CCI 209M primers.
  2. Older original wolf breech plugs shoot bh-209 fine. They just have to be kept clean by soaking in hot soapy water to loosen crud and bored out BY HAND with # 32 drill bit to remove old charcoal. You also need to use magnum SHOTSHELL 209 primers with bh-209; not muzzleloader 209 primers. I would suggest buying new original plug and clean it after each shooting session to keep the channel open.
  3. Notice also that "Education" is not the answer. The gun owner was obviously educated about leaving it unloaded and separate from ammo. It's hard to write a law to account for all contingencies without it being overly restrictive. To me it seems to depend entirely on the individuals involved. Living in rural area with varmints & rabid animals in back yard, I raised our boys with unloaded shotgun readily available and trusted them not to handle any firearm outside of my presense. (My other guns were locked up) If they had guests, I would remove any gun. Never had them loaded but ammo was close-by. If my kids were like many other kids, I would have done things differently.
  4. Two boys were playing with loaded firearm in Wilton (Saratoga) home. Tragic to say the least! This is likely what the libs have been waiting for in order to expolit. So far I have heard nothing of where the parents were.
  5. Non-threatening bleat from true talker will call in any deer, and will call back deer you may have spooked but are uncertain of threat.
  6. Everyone is right! I had dinner with the couple who have the camera. They claim picture did not come out good and was deleted. I still can't believe they lied; More like they mistook it for something else due to poor picture quality. Wish I coould have seen whatever it was.
  7. My friend may not know a mtn. lion from bobcat but he is not a liar. I'll give him the benefit of doubt for a while and eventually I will get to see whatever it is. He did send the bear but seems to have problem transferring the lion/cat to e-mail. In any event, "Liar" is a strong word.
  8. I agree with you. I have asked for pics.
  9. Not to mention the cost of license & tags and cost of meat in supermarket. Age & rack of buck has nothing to do with health of deer herd. A dead buck is a dead buck and the younger they are the more tender the meat.
  10. I'll let you know when I see it but he is convinced it is a long tailed Mtn. lion.
  11. My friend has a camera set up for surveilance of his camp in 4F near Cobilskill. He has recent pics of bear & mtn. lion. Scary!
  12. If you shoot the heavier platinum powerbelts you should never have a problem with bullet failure. I believe all the problems with bullet failure are with PB hollow points & lighter weight bullets. Shooting magnum charges will exasterbate the problem. Practice with the HP's and hunt with the platinums and you should never have a problem.
  13. I only hunt with 338 grain platinum for reasons stated; Besides why would you need a .50" bullet to expand? I would rather have 1/2" exit hole.
  14. Area around home is getting sub-divided, posted and developed = smaller "Patches" to still hunt or stalk; Fewer areas to hunt plus more hunters= less enjoyment for me. I prefer "Big woods" with fewer hunters and large tracks of forest. Hunting northern woods is more difficult but more enjoyable & challenging if you like to hunt on foot.
  15. I hunt private & public land in town of Piercefield, next to Franklin county. I live in Albany area but much prefer hunting northern NY. Hunting around home does not seem like "Hunting" anymore.
