  1. Now that I think of it the last time I remember seeing it was about the time they let you use any centerfire rifle too.
  2. I could have swore I saw somewhere that handguns needed at least a 4" barrel to hunt with in NY. Has that changed? Couldn't find anything about it anywhere. I've got a 7.5" Ruger super Blackhawk 44 at the moment but I think I'm getting a 357 double action.
  3. I took my dad out 2 years ago and put him in a chair at the edge of a field. I had a scent wick on my boot with doe in heat urine. The wind was blowing from the woods I sit in towards the field I park in. He said as I started walking down the trail to my stand a 4 point trotted around my truck with his nose to the ground and made a direct line from my truck to his chair. I had walked all the way with the scent pad on my boot. I was halfway down the 100 yard trail to my stand when there were 3 shots and I went back out into the field to see a dead 4 point maybe 5 feet from my dad. He followed that trail in like a dog on a cable run. Right to my dad's chair. Couldn't have been more than 5 minutes after leaving the truck. His tracks were maybe 20' from my bright red ford ranger parked in the center of a cut corn field.
  4. Side note. Anyone on here call them in with predator calls? I did have one come in once on a woodpecker distress call but I haven't had any luck since then. If I only had my 375 on me instead of my 17.
  5. Anyone have any recommendations of a liquid lure that will work to lure in nearby bears? I was going to do a honey burn with 2oz of liquid honey but was told that the honey would be considered a bait by a dec officer. Even if I burn it and take the remnants with me. I've got a few days in a good area with lots of bear sign but there's lots of feed in the area so I need to give them a reason to move. There's so much forage that they really don't need to stay in one area to feed so they don't really have a pattern there.
