let the other guy make a stink about it and ruffle feathers with the landowner, stop in and offer them something in exchange to show your appreciation and hunt it just like you were given permission to do until you're told otherwise

I wouldn't be so quick to shove a permission slip in their face, may turn them off, especially if they know you're competing with someone else for hunting rights on THEIR land. I would simply let them know about the conversation with the other guy and get their reaction first...........this guy may very well have told them he'll work for them in exchange of hunting rights, perhaps he was under the impression it was for exclusive rights and the homeowners missed that......

I think the problem in credibility came tom the headline "Porgy" in a NY Forum, giving the impression it was caught in NY waters ....I was a little skeptical at first until I saw it was a fish from New Zealand.

Stop and talk to the new owners and offer to help them out in some way....then tell them how the conversation with the other guy went. They're either gonna say one of two things, one being you can't hunt there and two being screw him it's their land and he doesn't control who has access....and I would do it asap because you know darn well he's going to talk to them about it.....you're not doing anything wrong or being a pain in the ass about it, you're telling them to avoid causing problems with & for them.

I haven't followed this whole topic, but if you're just looking for something to run around and use for hunting, why not look for a decent older truck? stick with the fancy sports car and get something on the cheaper side for the few times a year you may use it?

I was thinking along the lines of "I don't know who put that Turkey Burger there Officer, but it wasn't us"............

my daughter has a few as "pets"........pretty sure they're nothing like the ones most of us think about when we hear the word "cockroach".

and I have no doubt that many of these new regulations have helped prematurely age people out of hunting.........the hunters who were barely able to get into the woods to hunt, but did it anyway with the hopes of getting a doe or any buck, are now saying screw it and totally giving up....

The group I hunt with in 4W has zero chance of getting doe tags this year, and antler restrictions to boot, so the odds of getting a deer are pretty slim up there during the regular season in the limited time we have to go....now I don't need to kill a deer to survive, but then again I don't need to drive 4 hours each way and spend the money it costs to travel and the other expenses involved. I can now stay at home on Long Island and have better opportunities without the added travel and cost. I wonder if they realize how much some of these changes have hurt the economy in some areas, before the change of opening day to a Monday, and the drastic changes to deer regulations, the local businesses used to do very well during that time of year ....used to be supermarkets, restaurants, and other businesses would be packed to the gills during that time of year, now it's virtually a ghost town. I'm well aware there are other factors and this doesn't hold true for everywhere, but from what I've seen in some areas it's not good at all........now I go to enjoy the scenery and relax, certainly not going to start driving all over the State to look for a new place to hunt hours away from our house up there just to kill a deer when I can do it 15 minutes from my front door.

I had a friend who was in a bad motorcycle accident a few years back and went this route for a season. I would think if you had access to land that you could park and a friend to help if you're successful, you could make it work. But the important thing is that you take care of yourself and get better!!

Well, in your first post you asked if you were being an a$$hole, and in your last post you admitted to being one....maybe you found the problem?.....sorry, couldn't resist, it was too easy.

I guess it depends on how good the friendship is to begin with, if it was a great friend I would try to come to some type of compromise....I certainly wouldn't toss away a great friendship over it, nor would I sell out ownership in a piece of hunting land or buy someone out for thousands of dollars over it. But, if the friendship sucks to begin with and you're willing to do the above, then do what you feel is necessary.

nothing wrong with letting a deer walk, in fact I think the opposite is true, feeling the need to kill a deer just because you paid for a license or need to fill a tag to feel successful is the wrong the thing to do, that's my thought anyway.....if it didn't feel right at the time, it wouldn't have felt any better killing it.

pretty simple process if you have a basic knowledge/understanding of wiring.............if not hire someone.

I have multifocal lenses for my glasses and contacts, gives me a slightly different/weaker prescription in my dominant eye for shooting...you do lose a little bit of clarity overall, but I find it to be worth the trade off.

seems people aren't happy unless someone is carried out of the ring on a stretcher.....I would think if Mayweather performed pathetically he probably would have lost.

I think there's a huge difference between transporting/possession of a deer after the fact of it being cut up, butchered, dismembered for taxidermy purposes, etc, and having it in your vehicle or home and walking out of the woods with one from a day of hunting and having it missing parts and being broken down into nothing more then chunks of meat.

I'm assuming some are asking what if you choose NOT to bring the head out. I'm presenting the scenario of walking out of the woods with a totally boned out deer or just 4 quarters....I'm thinking you NEED something in that situation, head or sex organs.
