  1. would a reasonable person find the need to shoot and kill someone because they got punched in the face? that's the question.........and Zimmerman was never hurt bad enough to go to the hospital, he went to a Dr. the next day to get a "note for work"
  2. funny you should mention the thing about anything involving kids,.........how could the defense think it a good idea to have a jury on this case consisting of all women, and if I'm not mistaken, all have children? you would think they would want a few jurors with no children.
  3. I've been sitting home recovering from surgery the past few weeks and have watched a lot of the trial, no doubt Zimmerman is a little off.............it's very odd to see how someone could have acted so calmly after just fighting for his life and then killing someone in order to survive, I don't think many cops could have acted the way he did immediately afterwards and his story is to text book to be 100% believable............just my opinion.
  4. I would be surprised if he's not at least convicted on the manslaughter charge............gonna be interesting.
  5. regular season tag and and dmp's...............unless it's Suffolk or Westchester.
  6. if anyone deer hunted Sate Land in the Catskills back during when there was a hunter behind every tree, can tell you that the odds of being hit with a rifle slug are pretty slim..........
  7. any more updates on the crossbow bill A283?
  8. I bet firearms account for more wounded and lost deer, then all forms of Archery weapons combined.......as well as the amount of irresponsible shots taken.
  9. is this gonna be funded by the money raised from the recent increase in student loan interest rates that American students are being screwed with?
  10. anyone remember the incident when a black bear took a 5 month old child from a stroller and killed it?.........happened in Fallsburg, NY in 2002.
  11. I don't think it exists.....
  12. pretty sure it's called a "draw lock".....ran into a guy using it last year.
  13. I've always said, if my license restricts me in a way that others aren't restricted to, there should be a lower license fee...............if one hunter can shoot any buck, why am I subjected to the same fee that restricts what I can shoot?
  14. they reduced them for one year and then jacked them back up.........I'd be happier if they cut out dmp's for a year or two rather than impose the AR's beforehand.
  15. that must mean non-existent..........they should consider cutting back on dmp's and rebuilding the herd before they move on to AR's.
  16. you're right, misread your first post.
  17. and just what does "unhealthy" mean? sick deer that appear unhealthy due to lack of food and habitat or a herd that is greatly diminished and so far out of wack that it needs to be rebuilt before AR's should even be considered?
  18. I don't think it's Southern Zone, but within the Catskill Park area.
  19. and did you know if you don't have your backtag on, its presumed you're hunting without a license and can be ticketed accordingly?..........and they're not required if you're hunting within the Catskill Park, interesting to say the least.
  20. but unfortunately some of the areas where they've been enacted won't....not every area has an exploding deer population or the food and genetics to really see a benefit.
  21. AR's have nothing to do with buck to doe ratios......they're about allowing yearling bucks to mature........and I don't believe NY has an unhealthy deer herd at all.
  22. my point is, that those are the reasons anti crossbow hunters say they are of such a great advantage over what many consider traditional bows....and I am not a rabid anti crossbow person, they would have the same effect on the deer season as the youth season did, minimal at best.......I would gladly take crossbow use in archery season over the antler restrictions that are being shoved down some of our throats.
  23. yes, a crossbow by definition is a bow.......but, one removes several of the difficulty factors that make bow hunting a challenge to many............the simple facts that a crossbow does not require it be drawn in the presence of the animal, can be rested on an object as you peer through the sights as the animal approaches from a distance waiting for the right shot, and requires no muscle strength to hold at full draw, have got to be the biggest reason anti crossbow people say they don't belong in archery season....and I can't say I don't agree.
