The guy who pretty much taught me everything I know about archery really instilled the ethics of archery in me, he also taught me about paying it ahead to those that are coming after me, he gave me lots of stuff related to archery and I try to do the same with up and coming hunters whether it be archery or otherwise. They are our future and we need to invest in them, I truly believe in that and one of the ways we have to invest in them is to hold ourselves to the ethics we preach and I have always said if you can't take an animal cleanly then you have no right going out there at all. Thank you for the compliment and I sure hope I can as well.

Would have been nice in color as well. I used to play a lot of paintball before my car accident and this landmines were just coming out when I had accident so I never got the chance to try one.

No 45 is about as low as I can go and the lowest I can go and be legal to hunt with. I am going to have the guy at the bow shop check the draw though, seems like it is not set right, I have always anchored with my thumb on the rounding part of my jaw line and my index finger riding my cheekbone and for some reason I am near my neck and below when I am anchoring with this bow. Thanks. Yes one body, mine has been through a lot and I am just trying to get in as much as I can before I am unable to anymore. I will try to go out with my camera some this season anyway.

I still have a lot of wobble in the bow arm shoulder and can't hold steady on my target, I had surgery on the right side as well but it seems to be doing much better. I am almost 2 years out from the last operation on the left, rehab has gone very slow on it though. They waited almost 6 months before they put me in rehab for this one because I tore the largest tendon in the shoulder this time.

I have shot them in the past, not my cup of tea at all. I am actually also trying to learn to shoot a stick bow. If I get good at that I will not use the compound anymore.
-
I have a lot of free weights but right now I am not stable enough to use them much. I did look that up, the big unit is 200 plus shipping but they do have another for 89 plus shipping, I may look into that. I am also still doing therapy at home with the color bands tied off to my lat machine so I am using those to try to mimic pulling a bow as well.

Thank you very much, I will look into that. I have in the past used the Bow Fit devises with very good results but when I had my car accident in 2001 and was no longer able to do much I paid people to clean for me and many things became lost or just simply got thrown out because they did not know what they were I suppose so I no longer have any of them. I had all 3 weights and would suggest the setup to anyone. I do no think they are made anymore though.

Thank you but I do not care for crossbows even a little bit.
-
I am not insulting those that use a crossbow but I have never nor will I ever consider a crossbow to be archery, it is a gun with a string not archery equipment. I will however defend anybody that chooses to use one as it is a legal implement to hunt, united we stand divided we fall.

I hate making this decision but I am not going to go out bow hunting opening day and maybe not the entire season. I went out got all new equipment, bow sight and so on and honestly thought I would be ready for opening day but the truth is because of my two shoulder surgeries I just do not feel I am shooting consistent enough to shoot at any animal. Really sucks, I will continue to practice and maybe by the middle of the season I will be decent enough but right now I just don't want to be one of those people that just go out and fling arrows hope for the best and injure game in the process. I was late in deciding to get new stuff and try this year, in years past I always started to shoot in the summer to be ready for deer season and this year I made a fast decision to go bow hunting and traded my old bow in and got one that shot 45lbs. instead of 70 and thought I would be ready in time, I am not and refuse to injure an animal for my ego. Maybe I will get one during rifle season.

I was just going to go get this video and post it myself.

I wish I could say the same, have not seen a single poult this year and I have been spending a lot of time outside.

Seeing that I have severe ADD/ADHD I tend to read many things at once. I am reading The Book of the Wild Turkey by Lovett Williams, Tenth Legion by Tom Kelly, a few old copies of Turkey & Turkey Hunting magazine, this forum, my Bible though I should be reading much more of that, another forum dedicated to turkey hunting, a book I do not recall the name of that is on the history of turkey calls and makers. I also like to read stuff about the American Revolution and Knights

Thank you each for all the compliments, sorry I have not replied sooner but I drive a Mennonite around and he has kept me busy. Going to take him to look at 65 acres the next county over tomorrow he may buy and I would be allowed to hunt, agent told him it was up against Sugar Hill Forrest but looked it up and it is not so he may not buy it now. @blackbeltbill I thought you had seen the video before over on OG? @Pygmy It is not as good as it was when I moved here back in 91, the simple truth is the Mennonites have rapped the land so badly taking every hedgerow, tree and pound out there is simply no habitat left to support the wildlife anymore. That is what I like about the Mennonite I drive for, he gets just as upset as I do when I see a treeline coming down or a pound being plowed over. There are a few sensible Mennonite's when it comes to land management, but I have only met 3 of them. Where I gun hunt deer and turkey is just over the county border and it is like you are entering another planet because there is this neat stuff called VEGETATION! @Kmartinson Thank you much for that offer, I will have to take the scope off my shotgun to go @wolc123 Yes things out that way are much different, there is a part of me that would love to live there again but I can never live over there with you "Flat Landers" again. lol I truly love it here though I am trying to get a friends number in Appleton where I used to live that I have lost touch with and see if he will let me turkey hunt his lands there, I was not a hunter back then and now realize how much I missed not being one.

Does not show that way to me, just a guy talking about his friend saying that there are reports and no link provided at all.

From the DEC website. DEC Confirms Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease in Putnam and Orange County Deer https://www.dec.ny.gov/press/121297.html

Before my last car accident and then the 3 shoulder surgeries I would shoot at least 3 days a week about about 30 or more arrows each time. Right now I am still trying to tune in the new bow but the bow arm shoulder is pretty week so I shoot until is says not more which seems to be less than a dozen at this time.

Before I bought the new bow over the weekend a friend of mine let me use his bow which had a Whisker Biscuit on it and I simply did not like the way the arrows loaded into the thing. I was supposed to get the Whisker Biscuit with the new bow but got the drop away rest instead. I was offered to keep my Muzzy Zero Effect arrow rest and kinda half wish I had now.

Did not realize there was a limit, sorry about that.

Happy birthday doebuck1234 and blackbeltbill
Sir-diealot replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
Happy birthday to both of you, blackbeltbill and I know one another from another site. -
Thank you and I truly believe it is only by the grace of God that I was able to get back to it. I do have a story that I wrote when I got the turkey, not sure if people would want to read it thought because it references another website where I got lots of help from members there.

Congratulations, always nice to get a new firearm. You can always add wood ones later if you wish.
