  1. Along with skimming the pot , on the card tables .
  2. I wear orange , I wore seatbelts before the law , and I wore helmets in states without helmet laws ( way to noisy with out my ears covered ) . However my personal beliefs are those should be your own choice . If for weeding out the gene pool if nothing else .
  3. Yikes ! It’s something I’ve given thought to as there’s a number of large dogs around us ,and most owners have zero control over them . I broke my walking stick over an attacking pit once ( he attacked my dog ) that backed him up a bit then I drew my .38 snub, which suddenly caused his owner to call him back . My thought is with my handgun would be first round to hind quarters at an angle away from victim if at all possible . A bat in easy reach in garage . But turns out this was a bit different. more info, bolt through dog, through a door and into man behind the door ! https://www.cnn.com/2020/02/06/us/crossbow-pitbull-attack-trnd/index.html
  4. When mine were young it was spoons in bed , I think under the pillow . As for me today , I haven’t got out of bed yet, same as most mornings this time, no spoons required. Ok I did get up to pee a few times , same as everyday .
  5. We all hunt differently, I like my Elite that I bought from Jeremy , I like it pretty much the same way I like my hammer or snow shovel ,they do a job . The Elite though I can draw unlike my old bow . That said I don’t think I’ve been at full draw on a deer over ten seconds and generally much less ,draw ,pin on target fire . Now in, practice my buddy and I used to hold at full draw for a timed minute before firing just for sh!ts and giggles, that was with my old Reflex, can’t tell you the let off though .

Mosaic Cream Ale , get it while you can !
  8. By far the majority of the time , give me a large platform with a footrest and a full size chair with back please . I stand to,shoot, take a leak, , stretch ( you should see me do my shoulder exercises in stand lol ) , look around mostly . In the woods I can see them coming from far off ( generally) and chose when to stand, in the thick stuff I use small ladders with no ,arms or rails so I can shoot sitting and leaning as they often “ just “ appear at close range . I often stand first and last light there .
  9. 100% agree, the actual draw involves my right arm moving straight back idk 12 -15 inches ? It’s standing , turning, raising bow, that requires far more movement .

Our friends just returned from Australia, called yesterday from Fla where they now live . Enjoy , stay out of the smoke !
  11. Congrats ! If I was younger and lived on our land , that would hands down not even close the dog to get !
  12. There was a time I really wanted one , but they need several hours a day of exercise at this point of my life that’s a no go . Frankly Im waiting for one more thing to go wrong with our current dog, he’s stopping us from travel and wintering in FLA . Then it’s no more dogs for us . But BMC are great dogs from what I’ve read .
  13. I can tell you, one . My friend and co worker was moving spots ,walking through the woods with his son , they kicked up a Tom who ran off then took flight . Another hunter sitting against a tree shot at the Tom as he was a few feet off the ground, and shot the Son in the face . Two DEC cops investigated one stood where the victim was the other sat where the shooter sat . They said the sitter could not see the standing officer in his green uniform , no tickets issued .
  14. 1st bow Golden Eagle 18 years of killing . 2nd a Reflex , 10 maybe 11 years idk 3rd one year , only got it because I couldn’t draw #2 anymore , oh an Elite Synergy .if It ever gets to the, point I can’t draw this one, I’ll just use my Xbow
  15. The shooting / gun community has largely abandoned the term “ accidental “ discharge or shooting as not following basic, long understood rules is negligent , one of the four culpable mental states . I wear orange in gun season , and Turkey season, I also carry a tourniquet and combat gauze , been muzzle swept to many times ,watched guys use scopes as binos and on and on . Im off to the gym ,weighted vest day , carry on .
  16. If the four rules are followed all negligent shootings would end period , and since almost half of hunting negligent shootings are self inflicted , it’s pretty clear more then one are broken at a time . Since most hunters imho couldn’t recite the four rules , much less follow them I wear orange .
  17. Seven tree stand accidents state wide lol. My daughter saw four just on her shift at one hospital , in a typical year I’ll hear of a couple guys that I know just from work or around where I hunt .
  18. My guess is you were 21 , as that’s the minimum age, unless it was younger back then .
  19. Ah perhaps the new Webster folk , but my family bought land on Lake rd when it was a dirt road , we ain’t fancy still today .
  20. I’ve heard that folks without dental insurance go there for the free cleanings , good deal for all .
  21. Four bucks for wood ? , you realize your talking to guys who drop four figures on a varmint rifle, 10k on a quad , thousands more on leases , cell cameras and Lord knows what else .
  22. I’m good to go , got room for riders .
  23. Many have had that moment. Years ago there was a guy at work who ALWAYS carried off the job I mean always and at work he carried a pretty large folder . If I had to guess his gun went back and forth to work with him as well . This was a mellow, polite urban living guy, many might have called him a yuppie back then . I came to learn his Dad was killed in a hold up at a store he owned .
  24. Bingo ! Although ours are off on their own, and ones engaged I don’t want to leave them . My wife is trying to get them to move with us , they can get jobs anywhere quite easy , but they aren’t leaving , so here we stay. Wife would be gone tomorrow, but I’m staying if the kids are at this point . Pretty much all her friends have left and the last couple we do a lot with socially are right now having a home built in Tennessee . Her nephew sold his law practice and moved his wife and four kids to Texas last summer , good move his kids are now relocated with them before they sunk roots here . As stated , pretty much everyone we know who left is solid middle or upper middle class , a few though well above that , my one nephew in Tennessee, owns 19 companies across the county , none in his home state of NY though . Those leaving are ones pulling the cart , not riding in it . I only see more leaving, it’s all most we know talks and dreams about .
