  1. Another year or two and it will be state wide!
  2. @vet if you can read my post. I work full time (6 days a week) with a healthy salary collect full health vision dental. 6 weeks vacation, comp time and plenty of personal days. I choose to save my time off for hunting season. I understand most people do not get as much time as some and other just simply can not afford to take any time off. Which is very unfortunate! So my last post was def a low blow and that I apologize for. I meant know ill harm on anyone's personal or financial matters!!
  3. AR's are coming. They keep adding wmu's every year. I'm just sitting back and waiting. I'll be back to see your thoughts when it happens. Good luck with your spikes this year!
  4. That's right I'm romneys 47% I milk the system on your tax dollars I collect welfare and I'm in assisted living, working off the books for 1500 a week and my girlfriend (really wife) is doing the same! Don't be a hater I work full time collect a very healthy salary with benefits and have plenty of time off. That I happen to use during hunting season in dutches.
  5. My last point proven! The young walk and have an opportunity to grow. Not hang from people's trees! And I agree about most Midwest states have no AR's and everyone seems more then happy to let yearlings walk. Why? Because they know they have an opportunity to have a giant if they are patient! So my question to some of you is. Why are you still killing yearlings if you claim you see so many mature bucks??? You are going to tell me that you would much rather shoot a spike then a decent 6 or 8 or maybe something bigger!! And if you are going to use the lame excuse of the meat is more tender. then go and shoot a yearling doe they taste just as good as a spike buck!
  6. You are exactly correct about Long Island. But you forgot the key factor. They don't have all of you trigger happy impatient part time hunters killing the first thing that walks past your stand! That is the most important factor right there! And there is plenty of nutrition for them upstate also! So if you are so qualified on this subject what is the reason why most of the buck population does not grow like LI???
  7. Good deals and easy bucks. ...your motto? whining and not being able to find mature bucks to hunt in an area without AR speaks to your ability or at least your effort. They are in every WMU .....AR or not. Just not behind every tree You seem keen to the one buck tag? And I agree with that. But it should not just be given to you. There should be a mandatory doe requirement before your buck. We took four doe last year and we plan on taking another four maybe 5 since we have a big heard. And we had multiple opportunity at decent bucks last year but we just felt that they weren't ready yet. Lets face the facts!! Most of these people will not shoot a doe and never will! Thinning the doe heard is ONE of the MANY key factors on having a healthy heard! Why is it that some of the largest bucks are taken from Long Island every year?
  8. i mist be mistaken again?? i could care less where you hunt. i just find it funny that you are so against restrictions but yet you choose to hunt at a place where there are restrictions placed on you. lets not forget YUO shared that information i never asked where you hunt. honestly i could care less. why? it all boils down to this one simple fact. AR's are coming so when they do ill be looking through the for sale threads to find good deals on all of you winey bitches gear!
  9. Advanced NY Hunter Members 989 posts LocationUlster NY Posted 12 September 2012 - 07:53 AM i live and hunt in 3J and we were the first to have AR in NY state, started about 6 or so years ago. i have never shot a buck to small, i just sit and wait till i can count the antlers, then make the shot. its not really as tough as some hunters might think it is, i might add that AR has most of us hunting bigger bucks now anyway, not uncomman to see nicely racked 8 and even 10 pointers in my area now when 10 years ago we were dubbed the land of the spiked buck. 10. @vet honestly what is your opinion about the restriction? and what do you think can be done to improve the quality of hunting in the future. keeping everyone happy. i agree with erussell eventually its going to come through the state. i personally like the 3 on one side but i also like the idea of earning a buck tag. since in that aspect you would still get to take any buck you would like but only after you fill your doe requirement beforehand. and that would keep the doe population somewhat in control and also would help ensure that the more dominant bucks are breeding the does.
  11. ok so we got one guy that is against being told what he can and cant take. but is hunting on private land that the owner has placed his own restrictions (being told what you can and cant take)?? there is plenty of public land at your disposal if your so against having restrictions.
  12. sorry tom miranda i must be missing something here!! you just said the landowner makes the rules didnt you? so did he buy your license this year???? "when someone else pays for my license they can dictate what i shoot"
  13. what the landowner expects of you? so i am assuming you are hunting on a nuisance permit? which would be a completely different topic that holds no weight on antler restriction. i mean you did comment that when someone else pays for your license they can tell you what to shoot! which i could only assume now that you would not be using your own tags on a piece of land that held you to some sort of standard!
  14. and you dont poke your head out when you have a chic waving her pie at you?
  15. i think they should take a few wmu's and all the no restriction hunters can hunt that area. the state will even put a few dinners in for you guys. one will be called "if its brown its down" and the other "3 on one side or less". oh and dont worry you can wear your scent blocker clothes the smell of bacon and eggs wont stink your clothes up because your wearing scent blocker! then the rest of us that would rather hunt for a older more mature buck with some brains in its head rather then some retarded yearling that i could practicaly piss on its head before it spooks can go hunt the rest of the state. you dont like antler restrictions so be it. then maybe the state should start going with earn a buck tag. then everyone will be forced into doing there share of population control which is also quality deer management!
