  1. I am totally in agreement. I did end up sticking it out. Only because I felt I was far enough from the beds and it did actually end up more consistent. And the bedding area is a cattail jungle. So I felt there was less chance of my scent getting to them. Later in the hunt the wind changed to my favor. And I had a mature doe in my area even crossing my trail for an hour. Even after I missed her. Lol. Thanks though your replies really helped to hammer the point home.
  2. Wait till we get a drizzley light wind day ( shouldn't hv to wait long) the rain will wash your scent before the deer have a chance to smell you. Or just hunt it one time. You may find you will still see the upwind deer.
  3. Welll, it sounds like I'm in good company. I missed a mature ( possibly dry. Had zero fawns) doe last night. Just over her back. I honesty had no expectations of seeing anything. Camera in tht area was up for two weeks and not one deer said cheese. So, all and all a great start. Glad it was a miss. Funny she stuck around for 45 min after. She even came back and was smelling the arrow.
  4. Do you stick it out or slip out right away? Man, this wind is killing me .
  5. Man I love two things right now. Internet on my phone and tht video. I know its messed up but, watching tht hunt in my stand as I wait for the prime time to ease in gets me pumped. Ok, back to hunting. Thanks and great job RITBlake. Hope I get some of tht luck over here in Wayne county. Nick
  6. Love a light rain while hunting. You can't hear them coming as well but, you also have less chance of them smelling you. A good $15 investment is a tree umbrella. And or a stand in a hemlock.
  7. Although I never cut a hair on a deer with them, I will never use the meat seekers again. The rubber band slips off far too easy and are way to much work getting them back in place. I can't tell you how many times I looked down after getting to my stand/blind and noticed the rubber band was off. and they don't have replacement blades. Resharpening is very hard. I went with swacker this year. You can use the your same heads as practice if you make two wraps of black tape. And no rubber band to fall off. They use small heat shrink tube. Plus angle shots are completely viable.
  8. Dang, tore up. I have yet to see any scrapes. I did see a small buck trying to stick is nose up a does tail then Chase her a little. There is no way of course tht I'm saying the rut is here or anything. But, you could tell he was hoping. How about this one? Anyone still seeing bucks running around together? Or have they all split up by now?
  9. I have been setting stands and scouting some new property and I have only seen one fresh rub. Has anyone been seeing any buck rubs yet? If so are they spread out or have there been the normal rub lines like later in the year?
