the problem with having big platforms and comfy seats...your brain nor body gives a damn when for what ever reason...say not knowing you have high BP.... diabetes...or something as simple as your blood sugar level drops and....Blip...your out like a light and pitching forward off that comfy seat and platform... :

Well I do and I've reported it and the whole thing is a joke...They fined one farmer here some years ago for illegal dump of carcasses or some non sense...over 50 deer dumped in a ravine that someone found...big deal they gave him more tags and now...well small learning curve ppl....gut shoot them so they run off his land...
Then lets discuss theses free permits...that by the way we have to pay for doe tags now..well some of us..one way or another ...yet farmers get them free and then lease their lands KNOWING...they can get a higher lease rate for the YEAR AROUND doe shooting...I'm sorry ..Ya I have a problem with that when you have a state dept. crying about not having enough money..then wake up and start managing it like the business it is!

Thanks guys...just happen to re scan some and ...it was pretty glaring to me :-[ ...of course no surprise...Drives Mr B crazy...I can get three or four different topics going in one conversation...then loose track of the point I was making...I feel like my brain is always trying to stay 5 steps in front of my mouth

Well ..some of you may have read what happened to me and that was years ago...It's gotten way worse and this spring turkey hunting was a bit scary
...I was well with in sight of the house...had actually walked under the turkeys when I went in...at first light a hen flew down 60 or so yrds in front of me and then I heard the tom between me and the house gobble on the roost...I called a bit and he gobbled a few more times ...I heard him hit the ground behind me and start another gobble that end up being cut short in a gobble..gurgle snarling ..commotion ..very quick...a Yote had nailed him!!...I had heard noises behind me in the dark but had assumed that the deer were walking through
In another spot here at home I sat in a blind and as it was barely light enough to see I heard the distinct sounds of several yotes...think it was adults and pups...moving along the bottom of the hill 70 yrds or so in front of me
I found a fawn tail this spring...but have to admit...my turkey population is ever growing...not a grouse to be seen and we had a few pheasant but not any more...squirrels are down and chipmonks back up...think because the fox population is now down

Yes...the guys at camp won't ...and it drives me crazy!!I tell ppl they aren't allowed in my stands with out one...and always leave one at camp...I have a half dozen or more...I really like the new ones with the safety step up strap...to keep you from dying after the fall from dangling.
One person at camp never hunted from a commercial stand and bought a 15 ft..bow stand for gun season....didn't read directions ..extra parts left over? and wouldn't use the harness..no gun rail....I went to check it...re strapped it to the tree and asked what the big wht nylon rope tied just 6" above the seat was for....He said to tie around my waist. ??? ...we're talking a 63 yr old here...he used it once and claimed it was a death trap and gave it to me : ...Thank God!...lol

Not hunting related...perhaps age ...definitely fatigue...little dyslexia
I reviewed some posts..apologize for the scrambled words...wrong words ...dropped letters ect....When typing I usually have a couple of versions on how I want to state things...some times with out realizing it I type both at the same time :-\ ....if spell check doesn't catch it neither do I...even re-reading ..If the thoughts are in my head.... my eyes don't always pick it up
Think the scrambled or words spelled backwards is a lefty thing or dyslexia...done that from child hood.....
Thanks,

Thought you'd get a kick out of these...Mr.B pulled in the drive and called my phone...grab the camera and get out here....We were just coming off that last spring storm...that dumped 5ft of snow...it was melting...these turkey were walking the road side looking for food.....
-
I agree..but I also thing our spring season should start mid April...springs seem to be getting warmer earlier
-
Well ...all of the above
I was hunting behind the house...bow season and about 50ft off the lines...and 300ft from the house and dog kennel/chicken coop...just before dusk here comes this guy on the edge of bordering field ..and talking on his cell really loud...then I hear ya she's in her stand > ...Now I know this guy had already gotten a lrg buck a week earlier and he's standing on the property line looking around in my woods...I yell hold up ...climb down and ask what are you doing..now you've ruined my hunt..."looking to put a stand here"...NO are you blind that's my house and livestock...and the law states no shooting within 500ft...I get a call from lessee ...swearing and calling me names...OK
The following spring I decided my chickens needed more room...so I built this...right where we had that little conversation...HHmmm now they have another 500ft they can't legally shoot...and my chickens have a nice new coop and I have a great covered ground blind

I got the Super LT and the bow lt....muzzle loading season is so cold and I'm usually so tired by then ...I decided It would be best value on a year to year basis...Mr. B got the same except muzzle not bow ...and our son got all the LT last year...he's 24...around a $900.00 investment
I get a kick out of guys saying license sales are down ...way of course....we all went out any gobbled up the life times...and my thoughts too...when you breeze through that money...because we all know how monies in NY get high jacked...what are they going to do...I fore see dumb mistakes and big law suits..but hope not
-
Bubba I started out with a 50yr old 45# grizzly recurve...I borrowed from Dad in-law...instinctive and off the shelf...loved learning and hunting with it...took my first bow buck with it....
-
I dont know about size...we don't measure but here are a couple of bucks from around here and I've seen bigger...No restrictions...ag country ...heavy pressure
-
Sure he was fast..let me see him do that when there isn't any one there to hold the deers legs and keeping it from moving around....LOL Doc...you like gutting deer or what? ....You'd luv it at camp...Dads friends either get ill or just butcher things...so when I'm there it's....please go out and gut so and so's deer ......one year between my 5 and theirs I gutted 8 deer ....That got old!!
-
Doc said it the best...we have 2 different areas...here at home 73acres and the deer population is down compared to past years...last year.... mind you..... I don't know a ton of the ppl around here but figured 1 squire mile around me...and counted over 150 hunters ..that I know of...and there are more...most properties range 10-100 acres in size...and about half of us bow and muzzle load as well...on average if you want to try for extra doe tags we can get 4 doe tags a year..on top of reg tags...2 miles away they are lucky to get 1 doe tag a year...
Down at camp is a whole different story...we own 68 acres there and are surround on 3 sides by hundreds of restricted hunting preserve acreage...then nearly in passable 50-100 acres parcels in the valley.... doe permits are some times hard to get ...but very low hunting pressure...so bigger herds ..but there is no farm land and STEEP terrain choked with brush (buckthorn and thorn apple)
Yepp depends on where you are

lately...I've found that I can make bedding areas with out even thinking about it....Just mow a trail to be able to sneak through high brush to my stand...deer bedding on the trail ...or I put a stand up in march...went to check it Tues. ....golden rod is chest high no trail but...several beds under and with in feet of stand....Don't tell me they aren't smart or know whats up

Seen any thing like this? I took this young guy out as a mercy kill on a doe tag during archery season some years ago...He was going to get a pass...But then he walked under the stand and eewwhhh...he smelled like death ...so I took him out...he went ten yrds and dropped...he had blk goo on his back side and around the wth fur there....What do you think it was? ...I'll tell you my thoughts later...by the way it was so nasty I didn't even want to touch him...donned gloves and dragged him a couple dozen yards away from the stand to a deadfall...weeks later still nothing had touch him...

I couldn't agree with your post more Doc...bow season is the only time I hit the woods with out blaze orange camo...and hat...mittens...ect...and would love to see it in written law...the other thing I really think should be pressed is teaching these young gun hunters..I've all but given up on the older ones...that you should never pull up and start shooting at a deer running full board across a field or in the woods....actually that's why.... IMO.... every hunter should be required to bow hunt at least one year before being allowed a gun license...let them learn deer can get close and they do stop moving...or at least they walk...and if one doesn't... there will be another out there that will. ppl around here wont do chores with out some orange on and some have there kids walk to the bus stop with hunter orange on...

Both these deer were hundred yard shots off a rest...both shoulder shots ...except the hang doe turned toward me at the shot and it went under her shoulder and split her heart...I've been shooting this set up 30 yrs.....'
I would never attempt this...and he wouldn't again either...but when we were young....... with his 16ga smooth bore Mr.B shot an 8pt buck at 240+yrds and dropped it in it's tracks...We were standing in a ridge looking down the hill and he spotted the buck.....knowing the drop of ammo from target practice he figured how high he'd need to aim and took the one shot...
