A few years back iwas working on a construction project at copenhagen school...and a janitor told me there is 1000s of acre of land right down the road behind the school.....long story short...I took my only headmount....a 6 1/2 year old ten pointer...after my 2nd hunt back there.....its big woods though....bring gps

Just wondering what works best for you guys..... Do you grunt once your settled in or wait for first hour and then call? How often? Do you mix doe can bleat between grunts?
-
Hey Red....let me know how it goes....and is this farm near park....I would like to try some
-
Since we are talking Letchworth.... I always try to pattern the deer and to my best ......I would say these deer are feed at farm fields on top at night and bedding down in gorge all day....which puts travel at dusk and dawn..... Are they really travelling that far every night? Or do gorge deer stay down below?

Love the pics ...wow

You think deer numbers are back on the rise in the park? Didn't seem quite as busy the last couple years.... I typically see more bucks than does.....which I don't mind at all
-
If anyone is hunting 8m and have a doe tag you won't use....my family would very much appreciate the meal....going down for week of halloween...good luck everyone...
-
May look for spray.....but apples in pack is good idea.... I know I will never be scent free.....but scent free enough so a big buck or matriarch doe is calm...... Thanks for the help and the jokes jokers
-
Lots of acorns.....oh boy Last year I shot a beautiful 4 1/2 year old oak tree in the park...... Hopefully this year the buck fever doesn't eat me up and I harvest that 10 pointer

Just wondering ....aside from paying 5 dollars a pack for special gum.... .anyone have and good breath cover up ? I would bet most of the time when we tell our stories and we are baffled they smelled us (because we have carbon and cover scent and doe pee) its your breath......how do we fix coffee breath...I know....don't drink coffee...haha

Wow ....that avatar is a big deer......I can only dream of a deer that big... We are in A cabins....I was wrong..... How many guys in your cabin? There are just 3 of us? Where you from? I live in sackets harbor.....buddies from ogdensburg When I figure out how to post a pic ....I will show you that 200 inch deer from castile.... GETTING PUMPED....coming up soon
-
We have seen them....my buddy took a couple 8 pointers over the years that were real close to 120.....met a guy in mount morris....showed us at his house ...172" stud that came from the park .....and park police showed us pics of a 17 point slob (over 180" easily" that lived on safety zone but would venture over into castile farm fiields and woods at night...but poachers got him last year...hope to meet up and share stories...

Wow...awesome buck...good job

Been going there for 13 years now.....I have had more success at the mt morris end of the park....... Will be in cabins from oct 28 thru nov 5.....c cabins....and u? Interested to see if hunters are seeing the deer numbers improve due to mild winter? We have seen bears 2 years in a row now....wonder if they will ever make shooting a bear in the park legal?
-
I actually goofed around with it last year and called in several small bucks and young does....worked well
-
You should call deer tracking dogs....they will always get to your deers bed..then you would know and have peace
-
Last year I was in a bad way moneywise.....I usually shoot Rage but couldn't afford them....I settled on the exact broadheads from walmart....and on hunt number 3 last year I had a nice mature doe come in to 20 yards ...I shot her in a quartering away and it went right thru her....she walk 15 yards and fell over in sight...so don't listen to all the negativity.....get out there and put some meat in the freezer.....(if your license wasn't 90 dollars ...you could afford better broadheads)
-
Well for starters.....I agree the most with those who say let deer get closer....in my opinion...dusk...your done.....you still have to see where the arrow hit and last point deer was seen....too much up to chance.....next time maybe get your stand closer to the activity and you will have a 25 yard shot.... I practice at 60 yards with my xforce and still wouldn't take that shot at dusk......keep practicin and good luck...

Been seeing same mom with 2 young ones every night up til this last Saturday.....now its just the fawns showing up every night.....wondering what evryones thoughts are....is mom gone with a buck......(no hunters around me...if anything else maybe hit by car). I think they are really starting pre rut....
-
They have had the 3 points on one side restriction for a few years now...I would think there are some nice mature bucks out there....
-
Wow....nice buck....great job
-
I know they are expensive but the Rage have never failed me.....watched many deer drop in sight.... A lot of hunters expect to release that arrow and kill an animal.....the placement must be right...have patience....wait wait wait for the quartering away shot or sideways double lung....and thread it in there and you won't be sorry...good luck to all
