  1. 8x 30 or 32mm is all I'll EVER carry anymore. Had 40mm & 42mm in 10x and don't want to lug that weight around and I can see plenty good with 8x. I own Swarovski 8x30 SLC and 8x32 EL's now but have had a couple pairs of Leica, (8x and 10x) Leitz (8x) and Swarovski 10x42 SLC's and EL's. Oh and Leica 8x20. If I lived out west I still wouldn't want anymore than 8x. If you take this stuff seriously, spend all you can. You will not ever regret it, I promise.
  2. Welcome! Are you turkey hunting this spring, how goes it? We open up here May 1st.
  3. Ha! I REALLY like the name "Gator". And if I didn't I bet I wouldn't tell him either!
  4. I figured it was some kind of a take off on Mad Dog 2020. You know, some kind of hardcore homemade booze or the like??
  5. Welcome. Tell us about yourself....... What are you bring to the table?
  6. Just a goofy name my father gave me as a young boy. He called me "Lawrence The Waz" I have no idea WTH it means other than Lawrence is my given name. The Waz part??
  7. The oldest buck I have had aged was 5.5 years old and no way could you tell the difference between him and a 1.5 yo buck when ground OR back strapped & grilled. The buck in question here could have been a little "off" tasting but I'd have slummed it.
  8. Smash a big 'Ol Tom for us peons down here.........pics man pics!!!! Good luck and travel safe!
  9. You can't be sad in the death of a Monarch like him. Be proud of the fact that you were aware of him and had some of his sheds. That buck got to spread his seed for more years than most bucks. Maybe someday one of his offspring will step in front of you while hunting. I'd also add that his lower jaw and skull would sure be worthy of a trip to the DEC to show the staff. Any buck that age is a sight to behold. I'm sure they would love to age that stud. RIP Monarch Buck.
  10. Like whistling at a walking buck to get him to stop for a bow shot, trying to get a gobbler out of strut is usually the last thing on my mind! When I get the perfect shot, I take it. I could GAF if he is standing on his head..........................
  11. I paid $100 for the string/cables on my BowTech a year ago. Only thing is it was a guy in North Collins. Can ya carry your bow on your motorcycle? Take a ride........................... Only thing is (and I've pointed this out before) if there is any issues, you have a long ride back for service.
  12. The buck I killed in 2010 with the ML went 140 6/8 or so. It made the NYSBBC and I did enter it. Why not? The only other thing of any size was a pronghorn that was a dandy. If I killed him with the bow he would have gone into P&Y but I killed him with the gun and that makes him nothing but a GREAT trophy to me.
  13. I hang out at Steve's a bit. I used to be in the same business and he was my Snap On dealer 30 years ago! He is a heck of a mechanic too, I like to stick my nose in and see what chaos he has his hands into at the time! I know all those Philip's boys too; Charlie, Pat and Mike. Charlie left the business and is doing finish carpentry on his own now. Pat & Mike are running the show. Where in the Finger Lakes are you?
  14. We went there the past couple years after the smelt festival. You going this year? May 2nd.
  15. Nothing like the call of the spring gobbler. One of Mother Natures finest creations.
  16. Sorrentino's Pizza & Italian Cuisine. Main & Mill in Williamsville is a favorite of ours. I went to middle and high school with the owner and have been going there forever.
  17. A member here and neighbor of mine is "gonehntn" . He knew Dave pretty good also and worked in the shop occasionally on his own projects. The shop is closed now and empty as far as I know. Did you know Steve across the street at the service station? He's another good egg.
  18. Same to all you guys and your families. We'll have 12 total for dinner, 7 being kids who are probably chowing down WAY to much candy right now and will be all messed up by dinner time. (much like I was at their age!) Praise the Lord!
