Hayes is gone from that location, it's been about three or four years?? They have a great restaurant on Main St (Rt 5) about half way between Transit Rd (Rt 78) and where Sheridan ends at Main. Awesome................................. McPartlands, Wherle and South Forest? or Charlie The Butcher, Wherle and Cayuga? When did you have the wood shop? The fellow that was in there most recently (Dave, I think) pasted away fairly suddenly last year. Although I only met him once or twice he seemed to be a good guy. I have lived within a half mile of the wood shop for the past 23 years.

Damn, ya got me on THAT! It is a vest though, not a jacket. How do you like that camo pattern? IIRC I bought that in 1982. You wouldn't believe the miles on it and the birds that have ridden out in it. Each year I have to re-sew strap or pocket for fear of a complete blow out. It was designed by the late great Dick Kirby and made by Duxbak. I tried to replace it about 10 years ago and couldn't find what I liked so I keep on sewing..........

It is what it is. Yesterday was my wifes birthday, she wanted to take the kids and go for fish. We don't take them much anymore as they are always going different directions as they get older. The Ship N Shore has been around for many years, maybe 50? We messed up but who'd a thunk it? Oh well, I was mad because it ruined a special night. If it was free it wouldn't have mattered as the damage was done. Life goes on............ Happy Easter!!!

The hostess wasn't very pleasant when she sat us..........Between seatings she sat in a tree watching everybody else work. The waitress was a sarcastic pork chop, she visited with us the first time after we had been sitting for 15 minutes. During our entire time there, she never asked if we wanted another drink, NEVER. I had to ask the staff for 4 waters and they never refilled them. The waitress never apologized for the delay in the food (70 minutes) We ordered an appetizer that was right out of the freezer and into the microwave......Uggh. Never stopped back to see how we liked our dinners. The German potato salad was horrid, coleslaw good and fish fair. Did I mention 70 minutes (one hour and 10 minutes) from ordering until the meal showed up?

They have the crowds, minus 4.

Ship N Shore. It really fries my ass when you spend good money for a meal and the service is terrible. I don't want to get into it now but needless to say I'm very unhappy. My wife and I are both in the service business so know all about service. They can kiss my azz. Next time we cross county lines for fish it'll be to go to Brauer's. I know not many of you guys know either place but a few of you will. I'd write a bad review but you need to have a Google account and I'm not interested in a Gmail account. Screw it...................

That looks great. I hope you have the right spot for it! I'd be good for ONE big bear in my house then I'd be in trouble. My wife wouldn't be to thrilled about it though. I don't know if she'd call the Life Insurance company first or the junk man to haul out my mounts when I kick. She isn't a fan of too much of this stuff! Is that bear home in those pics or still at the taxidermist? How much trouble was it to transport?

I know of a few multi-bird kills on jakes! I haven't done it but sure could have many times. Not too many times have I had the opportunity on adults but I do remember just last spring on opening day my buddy had three come in. I was doing the calling and my gun was not in position for a shot as we thought it was just one bird. Much to our surprise three longbeards showed up. My buddy had to wait until they split up and then proceeded to miss anyway. He has killed as many gobblers as Pygmy I bet and still got rattled!! Freaking awesome!! (an hour later he killed an adult down the road from these birds)

I don't know much but I do know for sure that a mallard can defecate from the air. I'LL NEVER FORGET THE SIGHT An old girlfriends sisters boyfriend was sooo proud of his hotrod GTO until a drake mallard flew by at an angle and PLASTERED the back seat with a gigantic stink bomb!!! Oh that was a hoot!! As far as mutes go, I can tell you they defecate happily on land. The birds my friend has don't fly, clipped wings stopped that. I don't know what the balance of the water is in the two ponds that the mute swans live on but my azz ain't going swimming in them or am I going to eat any fish in them. I PROMISE

1981. Greenwood, NY 23lbs, 10.5" beard and 1.25" spurs (I don't really remember the spur length, I gave them to a cousin) (I'm the one that looks like Hank Williams Jr ) My good buddy Albert took me. He had a spot in Greenwood that they had permission to hunt. After a night of too much partying we headed down at 3am. Made it to the "spot" around 5:00am. Parked the truck at a spot that was kind of the bottom of a basin, UP in every direction. Al hooted from the edge of the road and 5 different birds responded and the Game was ON!! I didn't have a clue as it was my first rodeo. He pointed to the bird straight west of us and said that was the one we wanted. OK with me.....!! We climbed for 20 minutes and I was a wreck......that bird gobbled none stop. The details of the rest of the hunt are a bit fuzzy as the action was fast. I rolled him with the first shot and had to chase him down as only a 20 year old can do The bird was in the bag before 6am and we were happy campers. Al did all the calling and I was just the hired gun. My first turkey! (I've only killed two fall birds, they don't interest me in that time of year) We had breakfast in Canisteo and had to wait until the Big M (or was it a Sure Fine?) opened to weigh the stud. We went in and asked the deli dude if we could bring the bird in to be weighed, he said sure!! We grabbed him from the truck and plopped him on the deli scale and he was 23lbs+ Good times and hooked me for life.

Maybe a BBQ joint would want it.

You guys have pretty darn good memories. I have zero recall of the where/when of my hunter safety course. I'd guess it was sometime in 1975 for me as I would have turned 14 in August of that year.

The only real rule is there are no rules. Lord only knows if & when a gobbler will show up. I If you do give up on the spot, pm me the details and I'll check it out.................
