THE DEC HAS RELEASED THE 2018 DEER HARVEST REPORT
dbHunterNY replied to Larry's topic in Deer Hunting
i agree with Larry. the way people are hunting has changed. parcels get chopped up and people aren't going to drive deer out of their little honey hole they want to continue to see deer in. definitely fewer shots with more shotgun counties going to rifles in recent years. that very respectable 200 yard poke with the shotgun is now basically a shot you've zero'd your rifle at. times have definitely changed. -
what kind of predator is it supposed to be? not the best photo so i'd be making assumptions.
-
that's just the front which is around 200' x 60' minus the driveway. lol back yard is bigger, plus the rest of the side yards. i'll be mowing less when the 3 bay garage goes in.

Eat your heart out @Biz-R-OWorld. First mowing is on the books. Did probably close to an acre with the zero turn in a light drizzle rain. Even tamed some bushes in a way. Handful of trees are gone. Last one has to be for National Greed to take care of. Cant fell it in any direction as none of it is clear. Pretty sure the neighbors know we're hear now. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

i got dHop16, MC^2, and Paradise City. Thought about Mobius but I still have plenty from Nightmare and Toppling Goliath in the fridge to drink.

i've got limited knowledge of turkeys. weather good or bad and whatever else happens the breeding is close to the same time every year i've been told. makes sense as most wildlife is that way for offspring to survive. late may gets tough only because as the season moves along birds get shot. seems toms are henned up throughout the whole season. lately it seems i've slept in and killed them late morning way easier. by 10am everyone is heading back to the truck stiring things up and the toms are without hens.

It's basically a Texas heart shot but works because it's just a bird. Better chance the arrow stays in the bird and easier to pick the spot but still makes a mess. I like broadsided better. Pass thru but it flops around and wont go far. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Nope Brew Crew here in Albany, came in Saturday. I think they might start stocking what they can since they did a successful 250 case can release of Equilibruim not long ago.@Jdubs FYI Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

How do you take down a t-rex? One swig at a time. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

My wife bought this and is drinking it tonight. Basically tastes like you squeezed a good peach into mediocre bud light. I probably wouldn't likely buy it. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I almost got Mobius tonight. Assume you already had that though. SMores stout is delicious. Then toppling goliath pseudo sue good. Same for Fire, skulls and money. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

that's not your typical hunting size bow by today's sale pitch but it should flat out shoot and serve you well. the fact that it's making you happy and confident is worth more than one would think when the moment of truth arrives.

most of that means a miss. make sure you clearly mark where the actual vitals would be seen when up close. they aren't very big.
-
nice job!
-
printed it out. lets see if i remember to do it or if i get out much this May.

i wear Under Armour heat gear and use a thermocell. seems to work.

when you shoot as many turkeys as he does every spring, you don't count. his point of not knocking someone who really wants to shoot one stands. he no longer is the poster child for your every day joe blow hunter that's lucky to find a place to hunt to kill maybe a bird every other year. at one time he would've been but definitely not now.

I'm located in the area of NY that's predominately white bordering the southern end of Vermont. Hunter mindsets don't stray too far from the concept of zero book bucks either. The struggle between showing what you've killed and keeping it a secret to everyone but harvest reporting system is very real. lol you'd think people would learn by real world proof something works but instead you get road hunters, drop and go tresspassers, and headless bucks that grow anything older than 2.5 yrs old. slowly changing... maybe but we'll see. still it's hard to change the dirt not in a food plot or ag field.
