  1. Nice mounts guys. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  2. Clean work as always Jason. Will look great where they end up with happy owners for sure. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  3. They are a great charging handle with plenty to grab onto. This one cams though for more leverage. No need to mortar the gun and possibly break something over time. I've yet to get a stuck case jammed into the chamber though to test it out. Thought about putting a good dent in one to test it don't want to mess with the chamber intentionally. Gun shoots well for an AR. People have done it on YouTube so I'll let them beat the hell out of their guns. Double feed is more likely but to prevent that I use pmags and always cycle ones i use. One is never left loaded up for too long. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  4. Tilted Barn Brewing Watermelon Cay (Double IPA from Rhode Island) had all the way up here in Maine. From last night and it was delicious. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  5. Got a new gadget in the mail. Gun has literally been a Saint with no issues. Reloading though I don't want to have a stuck case and end up beating on the thing. Push the button, rachet the handle out, and pull back. It cams against the upper and pulls the stuck case. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  6. That's a monster dead head. Bigger than one found here in northeastern NY that just gross 170" and was an unheard of monster for around here. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  7. If that's the only thing they've got then I agree. By May I feel like that stuff is pretty tall here. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  8. Using pictures is easier. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  9. there's a lot to arrow penetration. arrows are generally smaller diameter and bows now are cranking. a budget bow now is comfortably as fast as a speed bow from a decade ago. i mean if a bow now is less than 330's fps IBO it's basically a turd. ranch fairy takes things a bit too far at times. also the bowhunting public posts BS all over social media that gets some in trouble. i was just making a comment not long ago how spots throughout the shoulder bone vary and hitting down by the knuckle is bad news for many setups. then insert a guy here or there that posts they broke through and tell me i'm wrong yet doesn't divulge he's shooting over 70lbs and a monster weight of an arrow at 750 or so grains to do it. then your average joe blow hunter with an arrow 2/3 that weight and over 10lbs less draw weight sees it and starts flinging arrows at a quartering toward deer. ranch fairy is posting stuff that's been around forever. it's no different than a speed junky saying he doesn't have to worry about a deer ducking the arrow. you have to be practical with your setup and then just use it to kill deer without over thinking it.
  10. i'm not saying it can't be done. i'm saying birds already out in the open can be stubborn.
  11. i'm with grampy. they won't readily walk through the muck. as that swamp grass grows taller over their heads they won't like it because they can't see predators coming. just in the tree line there's likely a trail the goes along the perimeter. IMO they'll use that and work around the open swamp if that's were they're headed. we have a couple swamps on the farm and that's always how the birds navigate them.
  12. lots of good advice given. i've learned from bow hunting and gun hunting perfect shots don't always leave blood. i've shot multiple deer with everything from 50cal ML to 30-06 to bows through the heart without blood for many yards. bowhunting especially so if you don't have a very sharp broadhead you won't have as great of a blood trail. also where you think you hit the deer is always a little different from where you actually hit the deer, even if just a few inches. shot placement is based on path of the arrow through whatever you're shooting at but can change course as is goes through the deer. best advice here has been already given.... first wait for close to an hour if the deer doesn't go down in sight. if it goes down in sight that doesn't mean it's dead and can't get back up, covering more ground. keep your eyes on it for a bit. second, shut up and hunt! until you recover the deer, you're still hunting that same deer. don't celebrate or crash around with your gear. be quiet when taking up the track, assessing first sign, and when moving you're still hunting at a slightly quicker pace following sign/blood and keeping your head up.
  13. DEC put together a workgroup to give their two cents i've heard, but their review seems to be separate from the legislative process and movement of the bill so far. Which isn't necessarily good. It's still in the senate EC committee though and no hearings or meetings are scheduled at the moment. National Deer Association has a position statement that is being sat on until the DEC workgroup issues a report. Hopefully it will highlight some shared concerns that the legislature can take into consideration.
  14. i'm with others. don't call or go stomping around in there. april the birds are very vocal. go early am and listen. high points of fields with a view are always hot spots for strutting. their best asset is sight but they view the world from 2-3' off the ground.
  15. easier said than done. once birds get out into the hay fields to strut you can call to them but often they know hens come to them. if they aren't strutting and instead working across the field it often helps to call to them from cover to get them to stop of up but then head them off in the direction their traveling. seems like once they're out in the open their minds are made up what they're going to do.
  16. It's fine. Ideally I only freeze once. Every time you thaw and refreeze you're pulling moisture out of it so you shouldn't do it anymore than refreshing once. It also thawed in fridge. Don't let it thaw on counter or get above 40. I have ice pack sleeve that goes around the auger neck on the grinder to keep it cold, everywhere but the very end by the motor drive. Grind the meat frosty but not frozen hard. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  17. Everyone's looking for reloading stuff. Varget is like gold right now. Surprised anyone gave it up. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  18. Video has been around for a while. Notice the one guy handles it like a walk in the park. He held it tight in the pocket, firm grip, and he let gun recoil. Still can't be pleasant to shoot. Lol Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  19. So with the kids we use plain nothing added ground venison a lot for many easy quick meals that the kids 2 and 7 yrs old approve of. I have a bacon mix we still have some of but I planned accordingly when I shot my KY buck this past season. I had them put as much as they could into roasts and "steak" so I could trim and grind it to my liking later. So just ground up and vac sealed another 14lbs. Crazy if I had to buy lean ground in the store, how much it'd cost! Been busy but figured I'd share. If you don't process your own you're missing out. Even use the equipment to do stuff on sale that's not wild game, not that there's much red meat on sale anymore. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  20. Who knows. A lot of things happened. Supply of raw materials to foundries, federal bought them out, and 18g/cc dense tss is the new hevi13. TSS is too rich for my blood to justify cost. Besides I still have hevi13 #6 shells left. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  21. Look at that beard rope and all those spurs! Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  22. Looks great. My wife would never approve. Lol Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
  23. I think it looks good. The eyes and face typically seem weird and not normal to me. Yours looks good though. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk
